Videos of the Week – Lone Justice Videos

I’ve been a fan of Lone Justice and Maria McKee since the 1980’s. Now why Lone Justice didn’t become a bigger hit is beyond me. Maria’s energy on stage and voice should have been enough to make the band work. It only released two albums, then a couple of compilations and that was it. They […]

Gary Sheffield is Bat Shit Crazy

Neil Best of Newsday must be loving this blog thing because he continues to post great stuff. First, he has a quick synopsis of an interview with Detroit Tiger Gary Sheffield that will air on Real Sports next Tuesday on HBO. Then it goes on to a full article that Best wrote in the online […]

The Big Ten's Loss is the MAC's Gain (and other stuff)

It looks like TV stations in the Midwest are finding ample replacements for Big Ten football games. Instead of finding movies or other syndicated fare, ESPN Regional Television’s (ERT) signing of the Mid America Conference gives stations some games they can air in the Big Ten’s place. Kyle Nagel of the Dayton Daily News says […]

More Friday Links

I wanted to get the first part of the links up so I could work on some more. Bob Wolfey of the Milwaukee Journal-Sentinel looks at a new radio post game show devoted to the Brewers. It’s not even on the team’s flagship station. Judd Zulgad in the Minneapolis-St. Paul Star-Tribune says the firing of […]

Friday is Finally Here

Let’s get to some links for you. This Dan Patrick-leaving-ESPN story has grown plenty of legs since July 3 when he said he had a big announcement to make. This site has seen a lot of traffic since the news broke. Yesterday, the Chicago Sun-Times had a tiny brief mention that Dan was joining The […]

Good Reality TV, Bad Reality TV

The Reality TV Genre is here to stay. Unfortunately, there’s too much of it. I enjoy shows like The Amazing Race, Survivor and Temptation Island. There’s a lot of bad reality TV out there. Of course, you can’t keep up with all of it. A well produced reality show can be very entertaining and enjoyable […]

Thursday Mini-Update

I’ll give you a few links here. Jim Williams in his Watch This! blog in the DC/Baltimore Examiner spins things differently from many media writers who keep saying “All Star Game ratings slide.” Williams quotes from MLB’s press release which states that Fox won the night on Tuesday. And Neil Best has a blog entry […]

The Thursday Links

Let’s get to our links today. MLB finally gets back into action. It seemed last night was a long grind. I will start with a quickie review of HBO’s documentary, Brooklyn Dodgers: The Ghosts of Flatbush. This was done very well by HBO’s sports documentary unit. The documentary went two hours instead of the normal […]

All Star Game loses to The Singing Bee

Well, the All Star Game did end up losing in the ratings to “The Singing Bee” on NBC. The rating for the mid-summer classic on Fox was 8.4/15, down 10 percent from last year. The Singing Bee bested the All Star Game in overall viewers 13.1 million to 12.5 million. Wow.

Primetime Viewing Choices

Red Sox vs. Twins from 9/30/1967 – NESN, 7 p.m.AAA All Star Game – ESPN, 7:30 p.m.Brooklyn Dodgers: The Ghosts of Flatbush – HBO, 8 p.m.America’s Got Talent – NBC, 9 p.m.

All Star Game Ratings and Other Stuff

It appears that once again, the All Star Game won the night for Fox. The Sports Media Watch blog says the game easily defeated NBC’s premiere of “The Singing Bee” (no, I refuse to link to that show). It’s easy to say the game’s ratings dropped again from last year, but again, I say don’t […]

Mid-Week Links

Let’s do some links for you. But before we do that, let’s go over the All Star Game in San Francisco broadcast last night on Fox. Best moment: Legend Willie Mays coming onto the AT&T Park field and being flocked by the current All Stars. Then riding in a pink Cadillac throwing baseballs into the […]

Natalie Jacobsen Leaves WCVB-TV

When a local news anchor who’s been in one market for a long time announces he/she is going to retire, it’s big news. That’s the case of Natalie Jacobsen who’s been with WCVB-TV for 35 years. Last night, she announced that she will leave next Wednesday to launch her own multimedia business. This is a […]

Tuesday Night Links

Watching the All Star Game on Fox, but somehow got distracted by an ABC News Primetime special on “Family Secrets”, in particular, one story on the huge number of kids who are the result of sperm donors. So many kids, possibly in the low millions, wonder who their father is. This one teenager, Ryan Kramer, […]

Primetime & Late Night Viewing Picks

MLB All Star Game – Fox, 8 p.m.America’s Got Talent – NBC, 8 p.m.Pirate Master – CBS, 10 p.m.Big Brother After Dark – Showtime Too, midnight (again boring last night, why do I even bother?) We’ll have an update sometime tonight. Work got the better part of me today.

Tuesday Musings

First, let me start by discussing the Home Run Derby cablecast on ESPN. Once again, Chris Berman was doing the play-by-play, Joe Morgan did the color and joining them this year, was former Giants and Cubs manager Dusty Baker. I guess the only reason Baker was there was that he had managed in AT&T Park. […]
