All Star Game Ratings and Other Stuff

It appears that once again, the All Star Game won the night for Fox. The Sports Media Watch blog says the game easily defeated NBC’s premiere of “The Singing Bee” (no, I refuse to link to that show). It’s easy to say the game’s ratings dropped again from last year, but again, I say don’t compare year-to-year, look at the number of overall viewers. With increased amount of channels, the 10.0 rating the game received is easily the highest number of all programming for the night. The report from Zap2It.com is a bit confusing breaking down the night hour-by-hour, but overall, Fox won the night.

Paul Gough of the Hollywood Reporter has a look into the ratings for the first delayed installment of “The Bronx is Burning” on ESPN. The first part drew 2.2 million viewers. The number might have been higher had the Home Run Derby not run over by more than one hour.

The Big Ten Network is going to start a big push for its launch next month. Lewis Lazare of the Chicago Sun-Times talks about the ad campaign.

Barry Silverman of the Press Box website which looks at Baltimore sports has this article on Imus/WFAN, MASN vs. Time Warner and MASN itself.

The NHL has just released its schedule for the 2007-08 season. You can click on each month to see which team plays where. The season begins September 29 with a home and home series between the defending Stanley Cup champions Anaheim Ducks and LA Kings. Television schedules will be released later.

UPDATE – The Kings and Ducks will open in London, September 29 and 30.

The NFL Network has announced plans for a new college football preview show.

Those are the links for today.
