Bringing Back Some Linkage

Work has been crazy and I haven’t been able to provide linkage as I would like. It also doesn’t help when I have to shuttle between two offices and I have to borrow a car as I’m still without my own transportation. Eventually this will get resolved, but for now, I’m still depending on others […]

ESPN's Multiplatform Coverage of Wimbledon

Kind of strange to see a press release from ESPN on Wimbledon on the night before the event is to take place, but with ESPN in World Cup mode, it’s kind of understandable. Let’s take a look at the coverage as ESPN2 and ESPNU will have coverage this week. ESPN2 is airing World Cup games […]

Thursday Quickie Links

I’ll do as much linkage as I can. I was at a jobsite already and I have to go out later so while I can, I’ll provide some links. First, technology writer Edward C. Baig of USA Today writes that he enjoyed watching the World Cup in 3-D, but it will take more than that […]

Jimmy Connors Joins Tennis Channel's Coverage of Wimbledon

Tennis Channel announces that it has signed Jimmy Connors for its Wimbledon coverage which begins next Monday, June 21. As Tennis Channel is not the main U.S. cable rightsholder for the event, ESPN2 is, the network will air taped coverage at night with segments introduced by host Bill Macatee, Martina Navratilova and now Connors. One […]

Saturday's Linkfest

I’m going to forego the megalinks for one week only. I spent Friday attending a memorial service for my mother’s close friend. I wrote my thoughts about her on Twitter, but I’ll expand on them here. Even though my mother’s friend wasn’t a blood relative, she was close enough for me to call her “Auntie”. […]

You Like Watching Tennis! You Really Do!

One more press release post before I hit the road. There are a lot of them today, but two can stand alone. NBC says Sunday’s epic Wimbledon Gentlemen’s Final between Roger Federer and Andy Roddick was the most watched men’s final in a decade. Really! WIMBLEDON GENTLEMEN’S FINAL ON NBC SPORTS MOST VIEWED IN 10 […]

BBC Sport's 2009 Closing Wimbledon Montage

Now that Wimbledon is over and we can move on to other sporting events, I can go back and look at some of the moments of the recently past fortnight. This year’s tournament was quite fun to watch and yes, having found a way to watch the BBC for the entire two weeks was absolutely […]

Your Tuesday Press Releases

We have a bunch of press releases to post tonight. It’s not going to be a scrollfest, but enough to make this a good sized post. Starting with NESN which will air a commercial-free special a week from this Saturday on Jim Rice’s induction into the Hall of Fame. NESN TO PREMIERE JIM RICE: THE […]

Tuesday Afternoon Update

I have enough links to warrant an update today. Starting with two links from the Sports Business Daily and thanks to the fine people there for opening these pages to the public. Comcast-owned Golf Channel and Versus saw the biggest year-to-year viewership gains for a sports network as Austin Karp writes. Erik Swanson talks to […]

Some Tuesday Linkage

Let’s give you links for today. Starting with USA Today’s Michael Hiestand who looks at the ratings of Wimbledon, MLB and the Nathan’s Hot Dog Eating Contest. Here’s a story that bears watching. Beth Ann Baldry of Golfweek reports that a group of top LPGA players are calling for commissioner Carolyn Bivens to resign. CNBC’s […]

Monday's Press Release Action

We have quite a few releases for you. Let’s give you stuff from CBS Sports first. It says ratings for the AT&T National won by Tiger Woods jumped by over 200% from last year when Tiger was out due to knee surgery. RATINGS ROAR AGAIN FOR CBS SPORTS’ COVERAGE OF PGA TOUR’S “AT&T NATIONAL” FINAL […]

Monday Afternoon Linkage

There are enough links for me to do an update. Haven’t done a second linkfest during the day in a long time so here we go. Do we have a media feud brewing? Dan Steinberg of the Washington Post’s DC Sports Bog goes after Keith Olbermann for a post he did over the weekend in […]

A Back To Work/Still Holiday Weekend Links

Some of you may have gone back to work today. Some of you might have extended your holiday weekend today. Whatever situation you’re in, linkage doesn’t stop so we get some today. I’m in a bit of withdrawal from having morning tennis over the last two weeks and with Howard Stern still on vacation at […]

ESPN Classic to Replay Federer-Roddick on Monday

Starting Monday at 9 a.m., ESPN Classic will air Sunday’s epic Roger Federer-Andy Roddick Wimbledon men’s final over a 15 hour period. The program will total 5 hours, covering the entire 4 hour, 17 minute match. The match is scheduled to air three times, 9 a.m., 2 p.m. and 7 p.m.

Sunday's Linkage

I’ve been meaning to give you linkage today, but I got engrossed in the Wimbledon Men’s Final between Roger Federer-Andy Roddick and then ran more errands than I expected so I’m now doing the links in the evening. Let’s do some links. Sports Illustated tennis writer Jon Wertheim has some thoughts on the media coverage […]

The What Am I Doing Friday … Errrrrr… Saturday Megalinks

Ok, time for the megalinks. I’ve been procrastinating so these are very late, but better late than never. As usual, we go over the Weekend Viewing Picks. The 4th of July weekend is perfect for Breakfast at Wimbledon and we know that an American will will win the Ladies Final on Saturday, either Venus or […]

NBC Continues to Eff With Us

On the 4th of July holiday where many of you have today off, I know a lot were looking forward to seeing the Wimbledon men’s semifinals today. Now the first semi got off without a hitch with ESPN2 carrying the Roger Federer-Tommy Haas match live at 8 a.m. ET which Federer swept in three sets. […]

Links for Your Thursday Night

Time for some linkage finally. For the 4th of July holiday weekend, the posting may be sparse. It depends on the schedule. Friday will have your usual posts, Primetime & Late Night Viewing Picks, Weekend Viewing Picks, Follow Friday and the megalinks. I know Saturday will be busy so I may not be able to […]

Wednesday's Press Releases For You To Read, Part I

Because I got home late from the Ted Williams documentary screening to discover that my house had been flooded thanks to Rhode Island’s monsoon season, I could not post the press releases that I received yesterday. I have a lot of releases and I need to post them. This is part 1. An ESPN-centric press […]

A Mid-Week Link Thing

Let’s do your links. I want to finish these as I’m heading into Boston later tonight for an HBO screening of the Ted Williams documentary that will air on July 14. I’ll give you a report after I get home. Thanks to the fine people at HBO’s public relations department for sending me the invitation. […]
