Westwood One Radio Launches A New Sports Prep Service For Member Stations

This month, Westwood One Radio will premiere a new service for its member stations. This will provide sports stories as well as audio sound bites. Take from me as I’ve worked in radio, it’s important to have sound to accompany news and sports stories. Stations will go to a private website and will cull the stories and sound that their reporters can use throughout the day. Here’s the press release from Westwood One.

New York, NY – Westwood One (NASDAQ: WWON) has announced a long-term agreement with Broadcaster Marketing Services (BMS) to launch a new sports prep service for radio stations beginning this November. Westwood One’s Sports Prep will comb the sports press for the country’s best sports stories, combine them with relevant air-ready audio and put it all into an easily searchable web platform. The service will be constantly updated with the latest sports news and will be available for stations 24 hours a day, 365 days a year.
“As stations continue to seek out products and utilities to help simplify their operations, Westwood One is meeting their demand head on,” said Dennis Green, Westwood One EVP Affiliate Sales. “Westwood One’s Sports Prep not only gives stations easy access to the best sports stories and columnists from thousands of media outlets across the country, it delivers relevant air-ready audio which we are confident will make it the one-stop-shop for all things sports.”
”We’re excited to be partnering with the recognized leader in the field to create what we believe will be the country’s premier sports prep service,” said David Brody, President, Broadcaster Marketing Services. “Our combined resources will fill an acute need for the creation of sports oriented content.”
