Universal Sports To Air Monthly Highlight Show

Starting this month, Universal Sports will have a regularly scheduled highlight show that will focus on Olympic sports and the athletes in their quest to reach the podium. The show called “Podium 360” will be a monthly half-hour program that premieres on Thursday, August 8 at 7:30 p.m. with multiple re-airs until the next edition in September.

New Original Sports Show Highlights the Best in Olympic and Endurance Sports 

Los Angeles (August 1, 2013) – Universal Sports Network announced its new original sports program, Podium 360, will premiere Thursday, August 8, at 7:30 PM ET. Podium 360 is a monthly, half-hour highlight show that will feature an action-packed and comprehensive review of the most exciting stories, races and victories of the world’s best Olympic and endurance athletes and teams in their quests to reach the podium.

“Universal Sports is focused on creating original programming such as Podium 360 that taps into the passions and interests of our core audience,” said Robert James, Universal Sports’ Vice President of Programming. “Featuring the best of international and domestic sports, Podium 360 fills a gap for fans of Olympic and endurance sports.”

The premier episode of Podium 360 will feature the best of the 2013 FINA World Aquatics Championships including 16-year-old Katie Ledecky’s world record performance in the 1500m freestyle and teen sensation Missy Franklin’s medal haul as well as recent Diamond League competition featuring Usain Bolt’s return to London, the FIVB Beach Volleyball Grand Slam and the 2013 BMX World Championships. The fast-paced format will also preview upcoming world-class events including the IAAF Track and Field World Championships in Moscow this August 10 – 18, and cycling’s final grand tour of the season, the Vuelta a España, starting August 24.
