For the first Boston Marathon since the bombing that took two lives and injured scores of others, Universal Sports will carry comprehensive coverage of the race.
The network will stream a tribute that is scheduled on Tuesday, April 15 at UniversalSports.com, then air a one-hour highlights show at 6 p.m. ET and an encore immediately following at 7 p.m.
The marathon will be run on Patriots Day, Monday, April 21.

Universal Sports Network Announces Programming Plans for Boston Tribute on April 15
With Less Than One Month until the 2014 Boston Marathon, Hearts and Minds Remain with Those Affected by the Tragic Events of April 15, 2013
Los Angeles (March 25 2014) – Universal Sports Network, the exclusive national television and digital media home of the Boston Marathon, today announced TV and live online coverage of the Boston Tribute event to be held on April 15, 2014 at the Hynes Convention Center in Boston. The event will honor those affected by last year’s events, including those who lost their lives, survivors and first responders. Universalsports.com will stream the Boston Tribute LIVE in its entirety (exact time TBA) followed by a one-hour Boston Tribute TV special at 6 p.m. ET and an encore presentation of the 2013 Boston Marathon elite competition at 7 p.m. ET.
“Our network is truly inspired by the personal stories of those who were affected by last year’s events,” said Universal Sports Network President Scott Brown. “We hope our coverage demonstrates the perseverance and resilience of the survivors, marathon runners and entire City of Boston.”
Universal Sports is working with all of its distribution partners to provide their customers with free previews in order to access event coverage for the week leading up to and the day of the Boston Marathon. Affiliates offering free preview windows during the month of April include Time Warner Cable, Cox Communications, Verizon FiOS, Google Fiber, satellite providers DIRECTV and DISH and numerous regional cable and IPTV operators in markets across the country.
In addition to live coverage of the Boston Tribute and the 2014 Boston Marathon, Universal Sports is currently airing the 15-episode “Run as One” series both on air and online at universalsports.com. The short-form video series tells the personal stories of those directly affected by the tragic events of the 2013 Boston bombings. As told by survivors, first responders, medical personnel and race officials, these moving first-hand accounts demonstrate strength of character and the triumph of the human spirit.
