The Amazing Race Asia 3 Website Unveiled

AXN-Asia has launched the website for the new season of Amazing Race Asia. Teams have already been announced and I’ll do a post on the 10 teams coming up soon.

My first reaction is that there are too many mactors in this edition of the race. One of the things I liked about the first season was there were more real people participating. Unfortunately, the popularity of second place finishers Mutt & Revolting in Amazing Race Asia 2 brought the mactors out of the woodwork for this season and there are nine teams involving models/actors/TV hosts (thus the term, “mactor” that was first coined by Hera of Gus & Hera in TAR6) and their friends/significant others in this edition.

While I have yet to see any scenes or promos, my first reaction is not positive. Executive Producer Michael McKay does produce good television, but having nine teams of mactors mugging for the camera is something that does not appeal to me at all.

We’ll see what happens. There will be a Racers Revealed program on September 4 and the new season will premiere a week later. As long as the season is interesting, I’ll come back with recaps like I did last season, but if I get disillusioned like I did last season, I’ll drop them.

I do hope Michael McKay knows what he’s doing because I would hate to think negatively of this franchise.
