Your Week 5 NFL Primer for the 2014 Season

Let’s start this thing. What’s new?
Well, almost a full slate of Sunday games. Only Miami and Oakland are off this week. They’re recovering after playing in London last week.

Any crossover games?
Yes just one. Buffalo is at Detroit. Last year, that would have been on CBS. This year, it’s on Fox at 1 p.m. ET. Calling the game will be Sam Rosen (coming out of the bullpen for Chris Myers who’s hosting the MLB Postseason on Fox Sports 1), Ronde Barber and Jennifer Hale.

Games of the Day?
Atlanta at New York Giants (1 p.m. on Fox, Kevin Burkhardt/John Lynch//Pam Oliver) as we’ll see if the Giants are really on a turnaround or if they’re pretenders.

Chicago at Carolina (1 p.m., Fox, Thom Brennaman/David Diehl//Laura Okmin) will determine if Carolina can bounce back from its loss to Pittsburgh.

Baltimore at Indianapolis (1 p.m., CBS, Kevin Harlan/Rich Gannon) is an intriguing matchup with the Ravens defense facing quarterback Andrew Luck.

Arizona at Denver (4:05 p.m., Fox, Joe Buck/Troy Aikman//Erin Andrews) should be on a wider distribution, but is only a regional late game opposite CBS’ national windows. It’s too bad the NFL did not flex this to CBS as it’s an intriguing matchup.

Kansas City at San Francisco (4:25 p.m., CBS, Jim Nantz/Phil Simms//Tracy Wolfson) should let us know if KC can continue to ride its momentum after laying a 40 burger on a pitiful New England Patriots team.

Anything else?
My dog just passed gas, but you don’t need to know that. Enjoy your Sunday.
