Thursday Night Football Has a Rare Week with Two Games

Because of the MLB Postseason, the NFL moved the San Diego at Oakland game from the late 4:25 p.m. ET window to 11:35 p.m. ET. Due to that move, NFL Network picked up the game from CBS. The NFL on CBS crew will produce the game and Ian Eagle and Dan Fouts will call it. Chris Rose, LaDanian Tomlinson and Deion Sanders will be the halftime and postgame crew.

That game is in addition to NFL Network’s regularly scheduled Thursday Night Football game which pits the Buffalo Bills against the Cleveland Browns. The regular TNF crew of Brad Nessler, Mike Mayock and Alex Flanagan will be in Cleveland for the call. Rich Eisen and his merry band of analysts will be on hand for the pregame, halftime and postgame shows.

Here’s the press release from NFL Network.

Thursday Night FootballNFL NETWORK’S THURSDAY NIGHT FOOTBALL FEATURES TWO WEEK 5 GAMES

Buffalo Bills at Cleveland Browns – Thursday, October 3 at 8:00 PM ET
San Diego Chargers at Oakland Raiders – Sunday, October 6 at 8:30 PM PT

The eighth season of NFL Network’s Thursday Night Football continues this week with a pair of Week 5 games.

On Thursday, October 3 at 8:00 PM ET, rookie quarterback E.J. Manuel and the Buffalo Bills travel to face quarterback Brian Hoyer and the first-place Cleveland Browns. Play-by-play announcer Brad Nessler and two-time Emmy-nominated analyst Mike Mayock call the game in their third season together, and Alex Flanagan provides reports from the sidelines. To kick off the National Football League and NFL Players Association’s support of October being National Breast Cancer Awareness Month, both the Bills and Browns will be donning pink clothing, including cleats, gloves, towels and hats.

On Sunday, October 6 at 8:30 PM PT (11:30 PM ET), the Oakland Raiders host the San Diego Chargers in an AFC West divisional matchup on a special edition of Thursday Night Football. The game will also air on over-the-air stations locally in San Diego (KFMB) and Oakland (KRON). The telecast will be produced by CBS Sports and feature their announcing crew of play-by-play announcer Ian Eagle and analyst Dan Fouts.

The Chargers-Raiders game was originally slated for 1:25 PM PT (4:25 PM ET) on CBS. The move to Sunday night was made in response to Monday’s announcement by Major League Baseball of its ALDS schedule which has the Oakland A’s hosting a game on Saturday, October 5 at 6:07 PM PT. The Raiders share the O.co Coliseum with the A’s and the Coliseum requires time to convert back into a football stadium in order to host the game.

As part of the NFL’s recently announced partnership with Twitter, in-game highlights will be accessible for Twitter users on PCs, tablets, and mobile devices from both this week’s Thursday night and Sunday night games on NFL Network. The in-game highlights on Twitter are in addition to other game footage, news, analysis, fantasy football advice, and voting platforms from NFL Network and NFL.com that are part of a seven-day-a-week customized NFL video content programming schedule created specifically for the Twitter platform (twitter.com/NFL).
