“I know we’re supposed to hand it off [in cold weather] but I watch this film [from Week 1] and I watch this Packers’ 24th-ranked pass secondary, I have to throw it around a little bit.” – Kurt Warner on the San Francisco 49ers’ game plan against the Green Bay Packers

NFL Media Insider Ian Rapoport

On the firing of Tennessee Titans head coach Mike Munchak:
|“This is a complex situation for Mike Munchak, so much so that as of Thursday and Friday the belief was that Munchak would be safe. He met with CEO Tommy Smith, he met with general manager Ruston Webster in Houston; they went over the whole team, they talked about the future. The only thing Mike Munchak had to do was fire some assistants in order to keep his job. In the end, he decided he did not want to do that. He refused to fire offensive coordinator Dowell Loggains, refused to fire defensive coordinator Jerry Gray, and then the key one here: Bruce Matthews, the offensive line coach. For all of the money they’ve invested in the offensive line, it wasn’t performing up to par but Munchak refused to fire one of his best friends, Bruce Matthews. Instead, he was fired.”

On former Tennessee Titans head coach Mike Munchak:
“Mike Munchak is already drawing interest from Penn State, a place he turned down last year for a job. Certainly a lot of mutual interest there.”

On Tennessee Titans head coaching search:
“They reached out on Monday and Tuesday informally, kind of back channels, to potential candidates if they fired Munchak. One guy they talked about was Seahawks offensive coordinator Darrell Bevell; he’s a hot a candidate, I know that he is interested in that opening. Ken Whisenhunt, the Chargers’ offensive coordinator, [the Titans] join a bunch of teams interested in him. Kind of a little bit of a wild card [is] Cowboys special teams coordinator Rich Bisaccia. He’s close with Ruston Webster, the Titans GM. Also watch James Franklin from Vanderbilt; interviewed with the Texans secretly and also drawing other NFL interest.”

On San Diego Chargers offensive coordinator Ken Whisenhunt:
“Ken Whisenhunt seems to be now when you talk to people involved in these [coaching] searches the top candidate on the board. The Detroit Lions view him as one of their really strong candidates; they missed out on the other two they wanted, Bill O’Brien and Lovie Smith. They didn’t even interview them so they want Ken Whisenhunt. I would expect them to interview him this week. The problem is the Lions have some competition: the Vikings and the Redskins have also shown tons of interest in Whisenhunt, and now the Titans as well. I would expect him to try to fit time in his schedule to interview with all of those teams if he can. One thing in common with all of those places: quarterback problems. They think Whisenhunt can fix them.”

On the Cleveland Browns head coaching search:
My understanding is Bob Stoops and Josh McDaniels are their top two candidates for the Browns despite whatever you read or whatever people say.”

On the Washington Redskins head coaching search:
“Jim Caldwell, the Ravens’ offensive coordinator, he’s interviewing with the Redskins today. He broke down all of Matthew Stafford’s tape for the Lions – he has done the same with [Robert Griffin III]. He will be showing some of that today for them. Perry Fewell, the Giants’ defensive coordinator, interviews with the Redskins tomorrow.”

On the Minnesota Vikings head coaching search:
“They’re talking to Todd Bowles, the [Arizona Cardinals’] defensive coordinator tomorrow and then Ray Horton, the Browns’ defensive coordinator, on Tuesday.”
