In honor of the 25th anniversary of the trade which sent Pro Bowl running back Herschel Walker from the Dallas Cowboys to the Minnesota Vikings, NFL GameDay Morning revisited the monumental trade with interviews with Walker, Cowboys owner/president/general manager Jerry Jones and former Cowboys head coach Jimmy Johnson.

What I am told is owner Woody Johnson will assess the situation in its entirety after the season. I’m told there is no litmus test as far as saying Rex needs to make the playoffs and then he’ll be able to keep his job even though his contract actually triggers with a playoff appearance because there is an acknowledgment in the organization that there is just not as much talent as they thought there would be, certainly not as much talent as they had last year. One thing to look at, last year the Jets didn’t fire Rex Ryan. There was a fear in the organization that they would fire him, someone else would hire him and all of a sudden start winning. That fear still exists.”On New York Jets head coach Rex Ryan and general manager John Idzik:
“What I am told by sources in and around the situation, everything is on the table for both Rex Ryan and general manager John Idzik. For Ryan, from what I’m told this week, seems a little safer than I realized and maybe John Idzik a little more in danger than I realized. Here’s why: two big issues. One, the $20 million not spent in salary cap space. I’m told owner Woody Johnson said you could spend; it’s not like the owner is holding back the purse strings. Idzik just simply said there wasn’t a wise investment. The Jets do think this money will be spent eventually. The other big issue, this is a team in transition.
