– “What I saw from them is resolve. Now this team when things go wrong, they start to look internally within themselves and one another, and they start finding answers.” – Marshall Faulk on the Dallas Cowboys’ 31-24 victory over the Oakland Raiders

– “This is a very dangerous team and it’s the best team in the AFC.” – Steve Mariucci on the New England Patriots
– “You can’t just be a second half team. I’m expecting more out of Pep [Hamilton] than what I’m seeing.” – Marshall Faulk on Indianapolis Colts offensive coordinator Pep Hamilton

Quotes from NFL GameDay First
Every Sunday morning at 7:00 AM ET, NFL Network is first on the field with NFL GameDay First. Host Melissa Stark, co-host/analyst Sterling Sharpe, and analyst Shaun O’Hara provide the first analysis of the day’s games, while NFL Network reporters stationed across the league report from stadiums with the first on-location reports of the day. This week, former All-Pro wide receiver Drew Pearson joined as a guest analyst.
– “This Todd Haley experiment has seen its last day. I’d be shocked if they’re running this same offense next year.” – Sterling Sharpe on the Pittsburgh Steelers
– “Tony Romo was tough, courageous; he showed leadership, he was accurate and those are the qualities that can help your football team get into the playoffs. The Dallas Cowboys are winning games because of Tony Romo and are not losing games because of him.” – Sterling Sharpe on Dallas Cowboys quarterback Tony Romo in the 31-24 victory over the Oakland Raiders
– “They have a great chance because of the play from the quarterback Tony Romo. He has been more efficient this year, he’s been protecting the football and he knows the process it takes.” – Drew Pearson on the Dallas Cowboys
– “No quarterback has been hotter the last few weeks than Nick Foles. I just seem to think as hot as he was, the bye may cool him down a little bit.” – Sterling Sharpe on Philadelphia Eagles quarterback Nick Foles
– “I was downright giddy watching that defense get after the passer, and the way they are playing on offense they could be scary in the playoffs.” – Sterling Sharpe on the Detroit Lions in their 40-10 victory over the Green Bay Packers
– “Last week was the worst he has played all season long but the key thing was the Carolina Panthers won the football game. They are better than Cam, and what I mean by that is even though they struggled on the road, this is a really good football team.” – Sterling Sharpe on Carolina Panthers quarterback Cam Newton
– “Robert is finding out that playing quarterback in the NFL is not easy. It’s his decision making; I don’t think he is seeing the field well right now.” – Shaun O’Hara on Washington quarterback Robert Griffin III
– “The New England Patriots are the only team that doesn’t care whether they get the No. 1 seed.” – Sterling Sharpe on the New England Patriots
Quotes from NFL GameDay Morning
NFL GameDay Morning is the most comprehensive pregame show on Sunday morning, airing at 9:00 AM ET for four hours on NFL Network and taking viewers straight up to kickoff. Host Rich Eisen joins analysts Steve Mariucci, Marshall Faulk, Kurt Warner, Warren Sapp and Michael Irvin to bring fans the latest news, injury reports, pregame analysis and game previews. Additionally, NFL Media Insiders Ian Rapoport and Mike Silver provide the latest inside information from around the league.
– “They don’t have a veteran [quarterback] to instruct him, to help him…This kid right now is in the worst possible place for the maturation of a young quarterback. There is no doubt about it. With the media, with what he doesn’t have in a veteran quarterback, what he doesn’t have at wide receiver and a head coach that only cares about his defense. That’s what this kid must grow under.” – Michael Irvin on New York Jets rookie quarterback Geno Smith
– “They have to keep playing him. When you decide to go to a rookie quarterback, you have to be far-sighted, not near-sighted. The stuff that is close to you, you have to blur that out and you have to look for the long-term – you have to make this decision for the long-term.” – Kurt Warner on New York Jets rookie quarterback Geno Smith
– “You have Nick Foles who’s never really had to carry this team, you have a defense that can take away what you do best [in running the football]…I’m interested to see can this young kid carry a team when you take out LeSean McCoy.” – Kurt Warner on Philadelphia Eagles quarterback Nick Foles facing the Arizona Cardinals, who have the second-ranked defense against the run
– “He’s proven enough to me that Howie Roseman, the GM, doesn’t have to consider drafting a quarterback in the first round next year. They can go with a position of need and they can build their team around this guy.” – Steve Mariucci on Philadelphia Eagles quarterback Nick Foles
– “The last time I checked it’s just not a running back’s responsibility to get the right plays on the field and get a team going. Somebody has to tell Pep Hamilton this is not college, this is the Pros…You can’t just be a second half team. I’m expecting more out of Pep than what I’m seeing.” – Marshall Faulk on Indianapolis Colts offensive coordinator Pep Hamilton
– “What I saw from them is resolve. Now this team when things go wrong, they start to look internally within themselves and one another, and they start finding answers…That’s playoff-caliber football and that’s what they’re showing me. They’re building [and] getting ready for the playoffs.” – Marshall Faulk on the Dallas Cowboys’ 31-24 victory over the Oakland Raiders
– “This team is just getting better and better, and gaining some confidence…This is a very dangerous team and it’s the best team in the AFC.” – Steve Mariucci on the New England Patriots
– “You have to stand in front of your football team and say, ‘I am the problem.’ And then when your guys look around and it’s not your fault and you’re taking it, the guys at home go, ‘That’s my quarterback; he stood up for me, that was me on that route so now I’m going to go to work and give him a little extra effort, give a little extra film work, do a little something extra.’” – Warren Sapp on Washington quarterback Robert Griffin III
– “When you lose faith in your quarterback, you have no opportunity at winning any games. None whatsoever.” – Michael Irvin on when a team loses faith in its quarterback
– “It’s a must, must-win…There is no bigger game for them than this game right here.” – Marshall Faulk on the Chicago Bears’ Week 13 game against the Minnesota Vikings
NFL Media Insiders Ian Rapoport & Mike Silver:
On Indianapolis Colts running back Trent Richardson:
Mike Silver: “Running back Trent Richardson – acquired early in the season for a first-round draft pick – has been demoted in favor of Donald Brown. Right guard Mike McGlynn also demoted for Jeff Linkenbach in an effort to shake things up. Organizationally, there is a sense that first-year offensive coordinator Pep Hamilton may be struggling to call plays on the NFL level; maybe needs to enliven the offense a little bit and get things going.”Ian Rapoport: “I reached out to a Colts source to try to explain this move and what I was told is it’s a bottom-line business. The Colts organization realizes that right now Donald Brown is their most productive back. They still believe in Trent Richardson for the future, but remember he’s had three head coaches [and] three offensive coordinators in two years. They’re still building around Andrew Luck but right now they need to win. When you look at Donald Brown, it’s a little bit of redemption; he’s been replaced several times on the roster – Ahmad Bradshaw, Vick Ballard, Trent Richardson. Internally he wondered why don’t they just trade me. Instead he kept working and now he gets his chance.”
On Washington:
Rapoport: “When you try to get inside the locker room and understand just what is going on with (them), the first thing is it’s about losing; it’s about a young team dealing with a ton of expectations trying to figure out very publically who is to blame…They also don’t have the draft picks they spent just to acquire [Robert Griffin III]. When you talk to people close to him, what they like to point out is it’s a bad offensive line, bad receivers, a really bad defense, and all of the focus is on RG3.”Silver: “[Robert Griffin III] has had the Midas Touch throughout his career up until now. Everything he has touched has turned to gold; now he’s confronting adversity for the first time and I think he’s learning on the fly. Mike Shanahan is a guy who’s had a great career having battled through early adversity in Oakland and he’s dealing with it now. Daniel Snyder, an owner who wants to win desperately, has to decide is this salvageable? Can I get these two guys to work together because I have so much invested in RGIII?”
On Pittsburgh Steelers head coach Mike Tomlin’s sideline incident against the Baltimore Ravens:
Rapoport: “Mike Tomlin was just added to the Competition Committee so the league will be especially diligent in reviewing this and that’s what they are doing: reviewing Tomlin’s actions, reviewing the actions of the referee. Here is my understanding of what is in play for possible discipline: a fine for Tomlin, a fine for the Steelers and the Steelers could also lose draft picks.”On Green Bay Packers quarterback Aaron Rodgers:
Rapoport: “Aaron Rodgers may have played his last down for the Green Bay Packers in 2013. The original target date for his return from a fractured collarbone was December 8 – a week from today – against the Falcons. I am now told that Rodgers would be lucky to be able to play in that game; he is still at risk of further injury. In fact, I am told that if the Packers are completely out of playoff contention, it is a possibility the Packers simply shut him down and move on.”On NFL.com the following video clips from NFL GameDay First & NFL GameDay Morning are available for viewing:
