NFL Network’s Programs Through Next Tuesday

I’ll post some press releases that I was not able to get to yesterday as my site experienced a record number of page views for the Rachael Cordingley-Carl Froch story I had. Certainly slowed my site down and for a point, I had trouble posting so I just decided to let the traffic die down. Shows you the power of Sports Illustrated’s Jimmy Traina and Hot Clicks. Thanks to Jimmy for the link to Fang’s Bites yesterday.

Let’s provide the programming schedule for NFL Network. Usually, I post this on Wednesdays, but as I mentioned, traffic was insane so I could not post it. I’ll do it now.

Array of NFL Personalities Including Redskins TE Chris Cooley, Buccaneers Kellen Winslow and Ronde Barber, Saints S Darren Sharper & Former Head Coach Eric Mangini Live In-Studio
NFL Network’s “32 Teams in 32 Days” continues this week on NFL Total Access.

On Thursday, June 2, Chicago Bears head coach Lovie Smith appears via Bears Cam to recap the 2010 season and the recent NFL Draft, as well as examine what the Bears need to improve on after falling short in the NFC Championship Game last year. Cooley is also in-studio Thursday.

On Friday, June 3, Tampa Bay tight end Kellen Winslow appears live in-studio to talk about the young Buccaneers team, quarterback Josh Freeman and their surprising 10-6 season in 2010.

On Monday, June 6, New Orleans Saints safety Darren Sharper appears live in-studio to examine this past season for the Saints and what the team needs to do to return to the Super Bowl. Also appearing live in-studio is a defensive back for the NFC South rival Tampa Bay Buccaneers, Ronde Barber.

Former head coach of the New York Jets and Cleveland Browns Eric Mangini serves as a guest analyst on Tuesday, June 7 and Wednesday, June 8.

Earlier this week, New England Patriots wide receiver Julian Edelman appeared live in-studio on Monday to discuss what it is like playing alongside quarterback Tom Brady and wide receiver Wes Welker. On Tuesday, St. Louis Rams head coach Steve Spagnuolo appeared via Rams Cam, and talked about the development of quarterback Sam Bradford and what the offense will look like under new offensive coordinator Josh McDaniels.

http://www.nfl.com/videos/nfl-network-total-access/09000d5d82019bb4/32-in-32-Spags-talks-Rams

– “Tom [Brady], he does it all. Watching him orchestrate a drive or watching him come in and lead the team, it’s a thing of beauty. He works his tail off, and it’s not just football things that you learn from him; you learn how to be a professional when you see Tom Brady.” – Julian Edelman on playing with Patriots quarterback Tom Brady

– “For [Ryan] Mallett, I think that’s a huge gift. You’re going to get to learn from one of the best, you’re going to get to see one of the best go out there and do it every day.” – Julian Edelman on the selection of quarterback Ryan Mallett in the 2011 NFL Draft

– “Like Brian [Hoyer] has done with Tom [Brady], I’ve done with Wes [Welker.] You just sit back and you watch these guys and you pick them apart, and you see everything they do and you try to add it to your game. I may not be getting all of the reps in practice, but I’m getting a lot of mental reps that I’m taking and I’m watching one of the best do it.” – Julian Edelman on playing with Patriots wide receiver Wes Welker

– “I think it’ll be a great one. … Josh obviously will head that thing up and his expertise and what he adds I think can take us to another level.” – Steve Spagnuolo on the pairing of quarterback Sam Bradford and new offensive coordinator Josh McDaniels

This week, host Soto and analysts Warner and Davis are joined by in-studio guest analysts Gates, Sharper and Barber.

Below are video links and quotes from last week’s The Top 100: Players of 2011 Reactions episode:

– Indianapolis Colts center Jeff Saturday reacts to his No. 59 ranking:
http://www.nfl.com/videos/indianapolis-colts/09000d5d820132f0/Top-100-Saturday-reacts

– Denver Broncos wide receiver Brandon Lloyd appears in-studio to discuss his No. 58 ranking:
http://www.nfl.com/videos/denver-broncos/09000d5d8201340e/Lloyd-earns-Top-100-ranking

– Analysts Michael Irvin and Torry Holt, and Denver Broncos wide receiver Brandon Lloyd discuss where the final nine of 18 total wide receivers on the list will fall:
http://www.nfl.com/videos/nfl-videos/09000d5d820135d7/Where-will-rest-of-WRs-rate-in-Top-100

– “I’m excited. Anytime that you get mentioned up in these lists, and obviously we’re moving closer and closer, you’re honored that all of the players you’re playing against would feel that way about you and put you up on this list.” – Jeff Saturday on his initial reaction to his No. 59 ranking

– “He’s got to be. Nothing against [Tom] Brady obviously, I have a ton of respect for him. But Peyton [Manning], he’s a different level. With as many MVPs as he’s had, the guy shows up each and every week ready to play, and his numbers support it. … As you get down closer, I think he has to be your one [overall.]” – Jeff Saturday on if he thinks Colts quarterback Peyton Manning should be the No. 1 player overall

– “I think it’s a fair placement. I also think that I should be higher because you can look at those highlights and you can’t name one player that played that way. Not being arrogant; I’m just saying that those plays in 2010, nobody did that. Not one.” – Brandon Lloyd on his No. 58 ranking

– “When I line up still to this day, I say to myself ‘I’m Torry Holt, I’m Isaac Bruce, I’m a route runner.’ I’m going to use releases, I’m going to catch the rock.” – Brandon Lloyd on his mentality playing the game

– “It’s not how many I caught; it’s how many I caught that really mattered, that really meant something. Each catch he made, each touchdown he made was important because it lead to a championship. So for me, right now 2010, and all that he has done, Greg Jennings has to be numero uno.” – Michael Irvin on why Packers wide receiver Greg Jennings should be the No. 1 rated wide receiver on the list

Lions QB Matthew Stafford, Redskins TE Chris Cooley & Former Boston College LB Mark Herzlich Featured Guests on the Latest Edition of ‘The Rich Eisen Podcast’ Debuting Thursday, June 2 on NFL.com
The latest edition of ‘The Rich Eisen Podcast’ will be available for download on NFL.com and iTunes on Thursday, June 2.

Headlining the list of featured guests on the podcast this week is Detroit Lions quarterback Matthew Stafford. Stafford, who is entering his third season after being selected number one overall in the 2009 NFL Draft, discusses his recovery from offseason shoulder surgery, the Lions’ four-game winning streak to close out the 2010 season, and the recent draft in which the Lions selected defensive tackle Nick Fairley, wide receiver Titus Young and running back Mikel Leshoure.

Also appearing on the podcast is Washington Redskins tight end Chris Cooley, who appears live in-studio on NFL Total Access tonight and Thursday, June 2. After a 6-10 finish in 2010, Cooley offers his thoughts on what the Redskins need to work on in order to improve in the second year under head coach Mike Shanahan, as well as the current quarterback situation in Washington.

Eisen also talks to former Boston College linebacker Mark Herzlich, who went undrafted in April’s draft. Herzlich tells his inspirational story of recovering from Ewing’s sarcoma that forced him to miss all of the 2009 season at Boston College, and his return in 2010 to start all 13 games.

League-Leading Jacksonville Sharks Travel to Face Division Opponent New Orleans VooDoo on “Arena Football Friday” Friday, June 3 at 8:00 PM ET
The league-leading Jacksonville Sharks (9-1) travel to New Orleans to take on the VooDoo (2-9) on NFL Network’s “Arena Football Friday” on Friday, June 3 at 8:00 PM ET. Fran Charles provides the play-by-play, with Brian Baldinger serving as game analyst. Anthony Herron provides reports from the sidelines at New Orleans Arena in New Orleans, Louisiana.

The Sharks enter the game riding a franchise-high nine-game winning streak. In their previous game, the Sharks defeated the Georgia Force 62-55 on the road. The VooDoo are looking to end a three-game losing streak, with their most recent loss coming last week to the Philadelphia Soul, 70-49. This marks the second meeting of the year between the two South Division teams. In their first meeting on March 26, the Sharks won 64-33 behind an eight touchdown performance by quarterback Aaron Garcia.

This marks the third appearance on NFL Network this season for both teams. Jacksonville is 2-0 with wins over the Tampa Bay Storm (54-30, April 1) and the Orlando Predators (76-55, April 30). New Orleans is 0-2 with losses to the Tulsa Talons (48-35, May 13) and the Arizona Rattlers (61-53, May 20). This is New Orleans’ final appearance on NFL Network this season, while Jacksonville has one more – a home game against the Spokane Shock in the season-finale on July 22.

Last week on “Arena Football Friday,” the Iowa Barnstormers defeated the Utah Blaze 50-48 at Wells Fargo Arena in Des Moines, Iowa. Barnstormers quarterback Brad Banks threw for 223 yards and seven touchdowns – three to wide receiver Jesse Schmidt – while Blaze quarterback Tommy Grady threw five touchdowns, four going to Ernest Pierce.
