NESN Renews The “Mad” Fisherman, Charlie Moore; New England Grimaces

I have never been a fan of NESN airing Charlie Moore who has had a show on ESPN and I believe he has one now on Versus. While I can enjoy fishing, watching Charlie Moore is like attempting to watch a car wash while inside the car wash. Nothing seems to be clear and water just keeps splashing onto your windshield. In the meantime, as much as you use your windshield wipers to clear the water away, it keeps coming. Watching Charlie Moore’s show is like trying to get through a car wash, but you just can’t as the water doesn’t stop. Why NESN puts this show on is beyond me, but he has a following. Just exactly how big, I’m not sure, but he’s gone from making a cable access-like production into a media empire.

So NESN has signed a multiyear agreement to keep Moore’s fishing show on Sunday nights. I wish NESN had other programming to air, but when you have something that’s filled a timeslot for years, you go with it. Here’s the press release.

CHARLIE MOORE RENEWS CONTRACT WITH NESN

Boston, MA – NESN, New England’s most watched sports network, announced today that they have reached a multi-year agreement with Charlie Moore that will ensure that ‘The Mad Fisherman’ will continue to deliver his unique brand of outdoor entertainment to NESN viewers. The award winning Charlie Moore Outdoors will air on NESN Sunday nights at 7:00 PM with multiple replays throughout the week.

“Charlie brings not only humor but nationally known guests and a one of a kind take on the passion of fishing here in New England,” said Sean McGrail, NESN’s President and CEO. “He is a uniquely talented entertainer that continues to attract a loyal following both here in New England and throughout the country.”

“I’m thrilled to extend my contract with NESN and to continue to push the envelope regarding outdoor programming with funnier episodes, awesome New England locations and of course great fishing,” said Charlie Moore. “Fishing has always been a fun and exciting sport of mine and I am honored to be able to share my experiences with audiences nationwide.”

Charlie Moore has been a fixture on NESN since 1996, first as a part of the Front Row sports magazine show, and since 1999 as host of Charlie Moore Outdoors. During that time, Charlie Moore Outdoors has established itself as the most successful outdoor program in New England and made Charlie Moore a household name across the region. Charlie’s unique, high-energy, and humorous hosting style combined with celebrity guests, outrageous skits, and great fishing have redefined outdoor programming. The success of Charlie Moore Outdoors earned the show three New England Emmy Awards and spawned two spin-off programs – Beat Charlie Moore, which aired on ESPN, and Charlie Moore No Offense which airs on Versus.

And that’s it. I hope this is the last Charlie Moore press release I post for a very long time.
