Sports Media Weekly Podcast No. 49

I can’t believe Keith Thibault of Sports Media Journal and I have 49 podcasts, but we have. You can count them! On Thursday, Keith and I convened via Skype once again and recorded the latest edition of the Sports Media Weekly Podcast which needs a new name. If you have any suggestions, let me know and I’ll forward them to Keith to see if your title can become the new name of our podcast. And I’ll see if I can come up with a prize like a free book or some other type of swag.

In the latest edition of the podcast which again is guestless, Keith and I talk about the NCAA Tournament and how CBS/Turner is doing on the game production. We both say positive things about the games being aired nationally on four platforms, plus we disagree on a couple of minor points.

We then go to the Sports Emmy Award nominations which were released this week. Keith and I predict who will win in some of the “glamor” categories.

And we wrap up the podcast by talking about the proper use of Twitter by sportswriters. Keith thinks sportswriters should have two accounts, one for their reporting and another for their personal tweets. I have no problem if they want to show a bit of their personality and showing us a different side to them. And I give a shout out to Joe Haggerty of Comcast SportsNet New England, but I course, forget his name in the process. Sorry, Joe.

Overall, a good podcast and one which re-introduces us to our adoring public. Of course, I’m being totally sarcastic.

Anyway, find the podcast and subscribe to it at iTunes by searching for “Sports Media Journal” or you can find it right here.
