Sunday Night Football Wins The Ratings Again

It’s becoming wash, rinse, repeat for Sunday Night Football as it wins the network primetime ratings, this time for the Chicago-Atlanta game last night. And again, NBC mentions that it beat baseball on TBS. Now, it’s one thing to say you beat baseball on Fox, but this is apples and oranges. NBC is on over the air TV and there are still those families that aren’t wired and still watch NBC over the new rabbit ears for digital TV. Granted, the numbers for cable and satellite are getting bigger, but not all of the country has cable so I think the ratings are skewed here. But I give you the release for you to make up your own mind.

"SUNDAY NIGHT FOOTBALL" GOES SIX FOR SIX

Falcons Win Over Bears Top Rated Show of the Night

SNF More Than Triples Rating for NLCS Game 3

NEW YORK -- October 19, 2009 -- Last night's "NBC Sunday Night Football" was the No. 1 broadcast on Sunday night for the sixth consecutive week (excluding NFL overruns) with the Falcons 24-17 win over the Bears. "SNF" topped the night again more than tripling the rating of the NLCS Game 3 between the Dodgers and Phillies, as well as facing original network programming including ABC's Desperate Housewives and Brothers & Sisters, CBS's 60 Minutes and Amazing Race and Fox's Simpsons, Family Guy and The Cleveland Show.

"Sunday Night Football" registered a 12.0 overnight rating and a 19 share (from 8:30-11:30 p.m. ET) a gain of 28 percent over last year's Week 6 contest (Patriots-Chargers, 9.4/15). The 12.0 rating for last night's game was the best Week 6 overnight for a SNF game (all facing LCS baseball playoffs) since the premier primetime NFL package shifted to NBC in 2006.

WEEK 6 "SUNDAY NIGHT FOOTBALL" OVERNIGHT RATINGS:
2009 12.0/19, Bears-Falcons
2008 9.4/15, Patriots-Chargers

The overnight rating for last night's game more than tripled the Dodgers-Phillies NLCS Game 3 playoff game on TBS (12.0 vs. 3.7). In the Los Angeles market, "Sunday Night Football" beat the NLCS game featuring the hometown Dodgers by 15 percent (8.4 vs. 7.3).

Head-to-head from 9-10 p.m., the Bears-Falcons game out-rated ABC's Desperate Housewives in the metered markets by a margin of 55% (12.1 vs. 7.8).
