Sunday Night Football Rules the Ratings Roost Again

Another NBC Sports press release is touting the ratings for Sunday Night Football.

This week, SNF garnered at 13.8 rating/22 share. That’s up just barely over last week’s 13.7/21 overnight rating, but it’s also significantly higher than the Week 14 game from last year. Very good ratings for NBC and the NFL.

Eagles Win Over Giants is Fourth Highest Rated SNF Game This Season

Tops Oprah Winfrey Special on ABC by 67%

NEW YORK – Dec. 14, 2009 – Last night's "NBC Sunday Night Football" game was the No. 1 broadcast on Sunday night for the 12th time in 13 weeks with the Philadelphia Eagles 45-38 victory over the New York Giants in a crucial NFC East game. "SNF" was again the No. 1 show of the night in the metered markets (excludes overruns of NFL day games) on a night that faced original programming including ABC's Oprah Winfrey Christmas special, CBS's 60 Minutes and Fox's The Simpsons, Cleveland Show and Family Guy. Head-to-head from 10-11 p.m., "Sunday Night Football" out-rated 'Christmas at the White House: An Oprah Primetime Special' on ABC by 67 percent.

FOURTH HIGHEST OVERNIGHT OF THE SEASON: "Sunday Night Football" registered a 13.8 overnight rating and a 22 share (from 8:30-11:45 p.m. ET), fourth highest of the season. That rating is up 48 percent from last year's Week 14 game (Redskins-Ravens, 9.3/14).

The rating peaked during the second quarter (9:30-10 p.m. ET) at a 14.3/22 when the Eagles took a 30-17 lead. Below are the half-hour ratings (Times ET):
