Sunday Night Football Garners Over 22 Million Viewers for Washington-Dallas

This from NBC. Sunday Night Football rules the roost once again. The game which pitted the DC NFL Team against Dallas received a 12.7 rating with a 20 share and an average viewership of 22.1 million. Yes, SNF was the top-rated primetime program in all of network and cable on Sunday. It outdrew the Walking Dead premiere which drew a large audience on AMC and the American League Championship Series on Fox.

Dallas and Washington, DC were the the top two rated local markets (35.5/52 and 34.1/52 respectively).

STAMFORD, Conn. – October 15, 2013 – The Washington-Dallas  matchup on Sunday Night Football was the week’s most-watched primetime program, drawing an average of 22.1 million viewers on NBC, according to official live plus same day national data released today by The Nielsen Company.

SNF’s 22.1 million viewers for Washington-Dallas is the highest for a primetime NFL game against an MLB League Championship Series game in 17 years (49ers-Packers on ABC, 10/14/96) and is up 11% from last year’s Week 6 SNF game (19.9 million for Packers-Texans).

In addition to ranking #1 in viewership, the 31-16 Cowboys victory on Sunday Night Football (8:31-11:25 PM ET) posted the week’s highest primetime rating (12.7/20), and was primetime’s top show in the Adults and Men 18-34, 18-49 and 25-54 demographics. SNF was also #1 in primetime among Women 18-34, and tied for tops with The Voice in Women 18-49.

For the television season-to-date, SNF ranks first among all primetime shows in live plus same day household rating, average viewership, and the Adults and Men 18-34, 18-49, 25-54 and Women 18-34 demographics. Sunday Night Football has been primetime’s #1 show for each of the past two television seasons.

Through seven NFL telecasts, NBC is averaging 21.9 million viewers — the third consecutive year with a 21.5+ million average at this point in the season.
