Ravens/Chargers Leaves NBC With Decent, But Not Good Overnight Ratings

After losing in the attempt to have New England-Denver flexed into primetime, NBC was left with a less-than-attractive Baltimore-San Diego game and the ratings reflected the interest from the fans in the wake after Pats-Broncos on CBS, plus NBC wasn’t helped by the Chargers blowout of the Ravens.

NBC received an 11.3 overnight rating with an 18 share. That’s down 26% from last year’s Week 15 game featuring Green Bay and New England in Foxboro, MA.

Even worse for NBC, the lead-in from the 4:15 p.m. national window for CBS featuring Pats-Broncos, sent to 79% of the country not only got a 19.5 overnight rating for the Tiffany Network, it set up the primetime lineup rather nicely with 60 Minutes and the Survivor Season Finale plus the Reunion Show. CBS won primetime with a 9.2/15 and 16 million viewers while NBC averaged a 7.3/12 and 11.8 million viewers.

CBS also won the all-important 18-49 demographic over NBC, 4.5-4.3.

NBC sent this press release.
