This just announced by the National Football League, the defending Super Bowl Champion New York Football Giants will open the season against their traditional NFC East Division rival, the Dallas Cowboys on Wednesday, September 5 at 8:30 p.m. ET on NBC. Earlier this year, the NFL moved the season opener back one day to accommodate President Obama’s acceptance speech at the Democratic National Convention the following night.

It’s the second time the Giants will open the season at home following a Super Bowl, both wins coming against the New England Patriots and both wins celebrated across America from coast-to-coast.
This marks the third straight Giants-Cowboys matchup on NBC as Sunday Night Football aired both meetings last season including the regular season finale of 2011-12 which gave the NFC East Division crown to the G-Men.
GIANTS & COWBOYS KICK OFF SEASON ON WEDNESDAY, SEPTEMBER 5
The Super Bowl champion New York Giants will host the Dallas Cowboys at New Meadowlands Stadium in the 2012 season-opening NFL Kickoff game on Wednesday, September 5 (NBC, 8:30 PM ET), the NFL announced today.
NBC will televise the game at 8:30 PM ET and NFL Kickoff 2012 at 7:30 PM ET.
Continuing a tradition that started in 2004, the previous year’s Super Bowl winner hosts the NFL Kickoff game to open the following season.
