NFL Adds San Diego-Dallas To NBC’s Preseason Schedule

As mentioned in the previous post, to make up for NBC losing the annual Hall of Fame Game, the NFL has moved the San Diego Chargers-Dallas Cowboys game from Saturday, August 20 to Sunday, August 21. It gives NBC a total of two NFL exhibition games as it will air New Orleans at Oakland the following Sunday night as originally scheduled. NBC was the only network to be affected by the lockout when the NFL announced last week that it was canceling the Hall of Fame Game in Canton, OH for this year. The other NFL TV partners had their preseason schedules remain intact. We have the announcement directly from NBC.

NEW YORK – July 26, 2011 – The NFL announced today that the San Diego Chargers at Dallas Cowboys preseason game has been moved from Saturday, Aug. 20 to Sunday, Aug. 21, and will now be televised nationally on NBC beginning at 8 p.m. ET.

NBC’s second preseason game features the Oakland Raiders hosting Drew Brees and the New Orleans Saints on Sunday, Aug. 28 also at 8 p.m. ET.

The NFL will open the regular season with NFL Kickoff on NBC, Thursday, Sept. 8, with a matchup of the last two Super Bowl Champions as the Packers host the Saints from Lambeau Field. The season concludes on NBC with Super Bowl XLVI from Lucas Oil Stadium in Indianapolis on Feb. 5, 2012.

Al Michaels (play-by-play), Cris Collinsworth (analyst) return to call all the “Sunday Night Football” games joined this year by Michele Tafoya (sideline reporter).

That will do it.
