NBCUniversal’s Programming for Day 15 of the XXII Winter Olympic Games

As we reach the penultimate day of the 2014 Sochi Winter Olympics, we have some medals still be decided. It also marks the last day in which NBCSN will air events as on Sunday, it will be all left to NBC to finish out the final day of competition.

On Saturday, it’ll be the bronze medal game in men’s hockey between Team USA and Team Finland. NBCSN will carry the game live at 10 a.m. ET.

In addition, NBCSN airs the 30km women’s cross country skiing event which is equivalent to the marathon in the Summer Olympics.

There’s the figure skating exhibition gala which will be called by Terry Gannon, Tara Lipinski and Johnny Weir and that airs in primetime on NBC.

The first two runs of the men’s bobsled competition airs in truncated form in primetime on NBC.

And also in primetime, the men’s slalom in alpine skiing. Ted Ligety who won the gold medal this week in the giant slalom is back in the event in which he won in Turin back in 2006.

Stamford, Conn, February 21, 2014 – NBC’s primetime coverage of the XXII Olympic Winter Games tomorrow, Saturday, February 22 at 8/7c is highlighted by the slalom gold medal final in men’s alpine skiing where Ted Ligety looks to earn his second medal at the Sochi Games. Ligety became the first American man to win gold in the giant slalom event on Wednesday. Also highlighting primetime is the four-man bobsled, where Steve Holcomb, who led Team USA to gold in the four-man bobsled in 2010 will compete in the event. Holcomb and teammate Steve Langton enter the four-man competition after winning bronze in the two-man bobsled in Sochi. Also in primetime is the team pursuit event in both men’s and women’s speed skating.

After winning the silver medal at the 2013 World Championship in the snowboard parallel slalom, American Justin Reiter looks to reach the podium in the event in Sochi. Rounding out NBC’s primetime coverage on Saturday is figure skating’s gala, where the top skaters from the Sochi Games including ice dance gold medalists Meryl Davis and Charlie White, reigning U.S. Champion Gracie Gold, who placed fourth in the individual event, Russian gold medalist Adelina Sotnikova, and silver medalist Yuna Kim of South Korea are expected to return to the ice for special exhibition performances.

NBC’s primetime coverage on Saturday also includes Long Way Home: The Jessica Long Story, which profiles Jessica Long, a world-class swimmer, 12-time Paralympic gold medalist, and 21-year old American from a Baltimore suburb, who was born in Russia and adopted by American parents. NBCSN’s coverage on Saturday is highlighted by live coverage of Team USA men’s hockey facing Finland in the bronze medal game with coverage beginning at 10 a.m. ET. The U.S. men’s hockey team has not won a medal away from North America since 1972, and looks to end that streak live against Finland. NBCSN also features coverage of the gold medal finals in men’s and women’s snowboard parallel slalom, the 4×7.5km relay gold medal final in men’s biathlon, and the 30km freestyle gold medal final in women’s cross-country.

  • Four-Man Bobsled – Competition: Reigning Olympic champion Steven Holcomb is back with two new crew members and the latest iteration of the Night Train sled he piloted to victory in Vancouver. The Park City pilot will have to overcome the host nation’s sentimental favorite, 39-year-old Russian Aleksandr Zubkov, whose Olympic career began as a luger in Nagano and includes three bobsled medals, including gold from Sochi’s two-man event. Holcomb and teammate Steve Langton earned bronze in the two-man in Sochi.
  • Figure Skating – Gala: The top skaters from the Sochi Games return to the ice for special exhibition performances.
  • Men’s Snowboarding – Parallel Slalom Gold Medal Final: Steamboat Springs, Colorado’s Justin Reiter, who briefly retired after narrowly missing making the 2006 and 2010 Olympic teams, is looking to repeat his medal performance from the 2013 World Championships, where he took silver.
  • Men’s and Women’s Speed Skating – Team Pursuit: The fastest men and women on skates come together for speed skating’s team pursuits. The Dutch have won a record 21 speed skating medals in Sochi and look to add to that total in speed skating’s final events.
