“I haven’t seen anything like this in years.” – SNF’s Michaels on Michael Vick
NEW YORK – November 17, 2010 – First place in the NFC East is at stake as Michael Vick and the Philadelphia Eagles host Eli Manning and the New York Giants on “Sunday Night Football.” Vick is coming off a game in which he threw for 333 yards and four touchdowns and rushed for 80 yards and two touchdowns.Calling Giants-Eagles will be six-time Emmy Award-winner Al Michaels (play-by-play), who is in his 25th season as the voice of the NFL’s premier primetime package; 11-time Emmy Award-winner Cris Collinsworth, who last year, his first in the SNF booth, won the Emmy for outstanding event analyst; and sideline reporter Andrea Kremer about whom TV Guide said is “one of TV’s best sports correspondents.”Coverage begins with “Football Night in America” at 7 p.m. ET Sunday with Bob Costas, who won the outstanding studio host Emmy last year, hosting live from inside the stadium. Dan Patrick will co-host “Football Night” from NBC’s 30 Rockefeller Plaza studios joined by Super Bowl-winning head coach and Emmy-nominated Tony Dungy, two-time Super Bowl winner Rodney Harrison, and Sports Illustrated’s Peter King. Alex Flanagan will report from Gillette Stadium in Foxboro, Mass., on the Colts-Patriots game.Football Night” (7:30-8:15 pm) is averaging 8.1 million viewers through its first 10 weeks, its most ever for that time frame and up eight percent vs. 2009’s 7.5 million viewers.MICHAELS ON THE EAGLES: “It’s pretty evident at this part of the season that some people, after Monday night, feel this is the best team in the league. If they turn in a performance on any given week like they did Monday night, and you can’t get any better than they were against Washington, than they are one of the teams to beat in the NFC.MICHAELS ON VICK: “I haven’t seen anything like this in years. He begins the season as the backup, and then he wins the job, and then he gets hurt, and then Kevin Kolb looks likes he’s going to return to the No. 1 role, even when Vick gets healthy. And then here comes Vick and he performs the way he did against the Redskins. It’s really an incredible story.”MICHAELS ON THE UNPREDICTABILITY OF THE NFL: “The Giants get healthy, and play like the best team in the conference, and then they lose to Dallas. It’s what the NFL is and has become. You just can’t figure anything out from week to week, which makes it more exciting.”DUNGY ON GIANTS: “They looked liked a different team (against the Cowboys). This is the team we saw in the first couple of weeks, making mistakes, penalties, getting touchdowns called back. The Giants defense gave up some big plays to Dallas, and Philly has some big-play receivers that they are going to have to worry about.”HARRISON ON THE GIANTS: “They’re still a good team, but the Giants, when they’ve had success, play good defense, apply pressure on the quarterback and create some turnovers. And Eli Manning has to take care of the football.”
As mentioned, here’s a video clip of Dan Patrick, Tony Dungy and Rodney Harrison talking about tonight’s game.
That’s it.
