This from NBC Sports. With a dramatic Ryder Cup that aired throughout Sunday afternoon, then a Sunday Night Football game that went down to the wire, NBC had quite a big viewership.
Overnight ratings showed that NBC registered very good numbers for Sunday Night Football, a 15.6 for the New York Giants-Philadelphia Eagles contest. In addition, the game saw a 25 share. That’s 25% higher from the Week 4 game last year between the New York Jets and Baltimore Ravens. NBC notes that the game was the best overnight rating for the start of the network primetime season.
NBC points out that Philadelphia and Richmond, VA were the top two local markets.
For the Ryder Cup, NBC received a 4.1/9 overnight number for Sunday’s action. It was the highest overnight for the Ryder Cup since 1999 when the competition saw another historical comeback, this time the US overturning a 10-6 deficit at Brookline, MA.
Here’s the press release from NBC Sports.
