Hockey Day in America Draws Consistent Ratings

There’s no press release from NBC Sports, but I thank their public relations department for e-mailing me the overnight ratings.

Both the early and the late windows of the NHL doubleheader received a 1.2 rating. Equal 1.2 ratings. That’s with 3 games being televised regionally (Washington-Buffalo, Philadelphia-New York Rangers, Detroit-Minnesota) in the 12:30 p.m. Eastern time window and one game being aired nationally (Pittsburgh-Chicago) in the 3:30 p.m. window.

NBC says the rating is up 8.3% from a 1.1 rating in the same window in 2009 (Pittsburgh-Washington). Remember there were no NHL games at this time last year due to the Olympics. It’s the highest overnight ratings of the regular season except for the NHL Winter Classic on January 1. And it’s higher than last week’s 0.9 overnight.

Thanks to NBC for sending me the numbers. We’ll see what the final numbers are tomorrow.
