BREAKING NEWS: Super Bowl To Be Streamed Online For The 1st Time

This just in from CNBC’s Darren Rovell, Super Bowl XLVI on NBC will become the first Big Game to be streamed online.

We’ll get details later, but this is a big move as the NFL had previously turned down a request by CBS to stream Super Bowl XLIV.

Not sure if this will include just the Super Bowl or if the TV ads which are a big part of the game will be streamed as well.

NBC has been streaming Sunday Night Football for the past three seasons, but has been providing online ads different than what has been airing on TV.

More details as they become available.

UPDATE, 11:00 a.m.: Rachel Cohen of the Associated Press reports that not only will NBC’s coverage of Super Bowl XLVI be streamed, but also its Wild Card Playoff Doubleheader on January 7, 2011 and the Pro Bowl which will be played in Hawaii a week before the Super Bowl.

NFL.com and NBCSports.com will stream the games live.
