TNT Sees Great Ratings for Lakers-Heat

On Thursday, TNT carried the Los Angeles Lakers-Miami Heat game. Plenty of people wanted to see if the Heat would lose its sixth straight and continue crying after losses. It would not meant to be as Miami finally pulled out the win over the Lakers and TNT was very happy with the ratings and viewership. TNT received a respectable 3.1 rating and garnered 4.8 million viewers. Very good ratings for TNT and it continues their record season as far as viewership is concerned. TNT’s Coverage of the Lakers vs. Heat Delivers 4.8 Million Total Viewers and 3.1 U.S. HH Rating

Knicks vs. Mavericks capped network’s doubleheader with 2.4 million viewers

TNT’s exclusive Thursday night NBA national doubleheader featuring the Los Angeles Lakers vs. Miami Heat and New York Knicks vs. the Dallas Mavericks earned 3.6 million viewers and a 2.3 U.S. HH rating. The Lakers vs. Heat delivered more than 4.8 million total viewers and a 3.1 U.S. HH rating. It’s the third most watched game on cable this season in total viewers, households and ratings, trailing only TNT’s coverage of the Heat vs. Cavaliers on December 2 (7. 1 million total viewers, 4.2 U.S. HH rating) and Heat vs. Celtics on Opening Night, October 26, (7.3 million total viewers, 4.6 U.S. HH rating). To conclude the evening, the Knicks vs. Mavericks delivered 2.4 million viewers and a 1.6 U.S. HH rating.

The 2010-11 NBA season on TNT is the most watched season in Turner’s 27 years of airing NBA coverage.  Through 44 games, the NBA on TNT is averaging a 1.6 U.S. rating (+31%, 1.2 U.S. rating), 2,446,000 total viewers (+35%, 1,814,000 total viewers) and 1,821,000 households (+32%, 1,379,000 households) over last year’s corresponding coverage. In addition, this season is +30% on total viewers compared to Turner’s next best regular season audience from the 1995-96 season (total viewer average 2,446,000 vs. 1,885,000).

The NBA on TNT continues to deliver impressive gains in all key male and adult demos, including:

  • A18-34 +40% (806,000 vs. 576,000)
  • A18-49 +39% (1,379,000 vs. 989,000)
  • A25-54 +35% (1,220,000 vs. 907,000)
  • M18-34 +34% (562,000 vs. 418,000)
  • M18-49 +38% (967,000 vs. 701,000)
  • M25-54 +33% (852,000 vs. 642,000)

TNT will return with its NBA coverage on Tuesday, March 22 at 8 p.m. (ET) featuring the Chicago Bulls @ Atlanta Hawks followed by the Phoenix Suns @ Los Angeles Lakers.
