More coming up after the jump. If you’re in Florida, Sun Sports has a special focusing on Tampa Bay Rays outfielder Carl Crawford.

All-new TV special, “Inside the Rays: Art of the Steal,” premieres statewide on Sun Sports this Sunday, 6/13, 4:30pm – the half-hour TV show takes a look at how the Rays utilize the stolen base as part of their game strategy, and why it works so well.

  • Rays manager Joe Maddon talks about the pressure base stealers put on their opponents, and how difficult it is to gameplan for a team with so much speed on the basepaths.
  • The show breaks down the concept of “getting the green light,” and how it important it is for the Rays to be unpredictable.
  • Carl Crawford, one of the games best base stealers, hits the field to demonstrate how he takes his lead from first base, and the most effective way to slide into second base on a steal attempt.
  • The show also talks about how the Rays buck conventional wisdom by trying to steal third base.  Carl Crawford also demonstrates his strategy when trying to get from second base to third.
  • Finally, Inside the Rays will examine the untouchable records for stolen bases in a season, 130 by Rickey Henderson, and consecutive steals without being caught, 50 by Vince Coleman.
Sun Sports’ Whit Watson hosts. Throughout “Inside the Rays: Art of the Steal” fans will hear from:

  • Carl Crawford
  • BJ Upton
  • Don Zimmer
  • Joe Maddon
