More MLB Pennant Race Games on Your TV in September

While I was away from the office today, I was busy at a jobsite. Of course, Versus leaves and we have other things going on this Tuesday.

First, MLB Network and TBS have announced they will air games with pennant race implications throughout the month.

MLB Network Adds Series of Games in September Featuring Postseason Contenders

Major League Baseball today announced additions to its national broadcast schedule for the month of September, adding a series of “Pennant Race” games featuring playoff contenders on TBS and MLB Network. TBS will present a special Friday night broadcast of the September 25 Red Sox @ Yankees game, while MLB Network will add a series of games in September featuring teams in contention for the MLB Postseason, which begins October 7 with the Division Series on TBS. The MLB Network games late in September will be determined each week based on the standings and playoff implications at the time.

The new games added to the national broadcast schedule in September include:

Monday, September 7 (Labor Day) – 2:00 p.m. Red Sox @ White Sox (MLB Network)

Monday, September 7 (Labor Day) – 7:00 p.m. Rays @ Yankees (MLB Network)

Tuesday, September 15 – TBD (MLB Network)*

Tuesday, September 22 – TBD (MLB Network)*

Friday, September 25 – 7:00 p.m. Red Sox @ Yankees (TBS)

Tuesday, September 29 – TBD (MLB Network)*

*Will be determined based on standings and playoff implications at the time.

“As the pennant races heat up in September, we are giving our fans around the country more of an opportunity to see games that will go a long way in deciding who will be playing in October,” said Tim Brosnan, Executive Vice President, Business, Major League Baseball.

Friday Night “Pennant Race” Edition on Sept. 25 at 7 p.m. (ET)

As MLB regular season action heats up, TBS announced today that it will present a special Friday night “pennant race” edition of MLB on TBS on Sept. 25, featuring the Boston Red Sox at the New York Yankees at 7 p.m. (ET). The match-up features one of the most storied rivalries in sports and will be called by Chip Caray (play-by-play) and Buck Martinez (analyst) with Craig Sager (reporter) from Yankee Stadium. TBS will once again have exclusive coverage of all four MLB Division Series and the National League Championship Series beginning Oct. 7.

Don’t forget TBS is in th
e midst of a six year deal to air the entire League Division Series and one half of the League Championship Series.
