MLB Says 2010 LCS Most Watched Since 2007

Two MLB-centric press releases for you now. First, Major League Baseball says the ratings for the 2010 League Championship Series were the highest since 2007. While the LCS got beat by both Sunday Night and Monday Night Football, baseball held its own in the ratings and still did well as each series went six games. It will be interesting to see how the World Series does with two underdog teams, Texas and San Francisco.

2010 LEAGUE CHAMPIONSHIP SERIES IS MOST WATCHED SINCE 2007
The 2010 League Championship Series on FOX and TBS was the most-watched LCS since 2007 averaging 8.60 million viewers and an increase of +2% from the 2009 LCS which averaged 8.43 million viewers.
When comparing only primetime telecasts, the nine 2010 LCS games were the most-viewed since 2006 with an average of 9.57 million viewers and up +7% from last year’s nine primetime games which averaged 8.97 million viewers.
The 2010 NLCS on FOX was the most-watched NLCS since 2006 with an average of 9.05 million viewers. The 2010 ALCS was the most-watched LCS on TBS since the network began airing the round in 2007 averaging 8.22 million viewers.
Game 6 of the 2010 ALCS registered 11.86 million viewers making it the second most-viewed baseball game ever on cable television beating the game where Mark McGwire tied Roger Maris for the most home runs in a season on ESPN on September 7, 1998 (10.62 million viewers). Only the 2008 ALCS Game 7 between the Boston Red Sox and Tampa Bay Rays registered more viewers (13.36 million) on cable.
