MLB Network All Over Trade Deadline Day

Baseball’s trading deadline comes on Sunday, July 31 at 4 p.m. Eastern time. MLB Network will have coverage of the deadline starting on Saturday with a two hour special at 11 a.m. East, then a full ten hours of live coverage the following day starting at 11:30 a.m. Coverage will also include live cut-in to games. The full staff of MLB Tonight Live will be on hand to keep track of all the trades and the games on Sunday. We have the press release plus the schedule of games for the following week as well. Division Leaders Featured Throughout MLB Network Game Schedule from July 28 – August 7
Matchups Include Pirates at Phillies, Yankees at Red Sox, Rangers at Tigers

Secaucus, N.J., July 25, 2011 – MLB Network will provide comprehensive coverage all this week as Major League Baseball’s Trade Deadline approaches on Sunday, July 31 at 4:00 p.m. ET, including a two-hour live special on July 30 at 11:00 a.m. ET. MLB Network will feature more than 10 hours of live coverage on July 31 starting at 11:30 a.m. ET with look-ins at games in progress and updates on every rumor and move through the deadline with reports and analysis from Greg Amsinger, Larry Bowa, Peter Gammons, John Hart, Jon Heyman, Joe Magrane, Harold Reynolds, Ken Rosenthal, Matt Vasgersian, Tom Verducci and Mitch Williams. MLB.com senior writer Jonathan Mayo and MLB Network Insiders and sportswriters Phil Rogers, Richard Justice and Tracy Ringolsby will contribute analysis on-air throughout the day.

During the week, MLB Network will take viewers inside the trade war room with features showcasing the deadline process and the range of emotions general managers, managers and players experience. The greatest in-season trades will be featured in a new Prime 9, including the Kansas City Royals trading Carlos Beltran to the Houston Astros in 2004 and John Smoltz being traded by the Detroit Tigers to the Atlanta Braves in 1987 and MLB Network will profile players who were part of influential deadline deals, including Cliff Lee, Hall of Famer Rickey Henderson, Doyle Alexander and Hall of Famer Lou Brock.

Current division leaders will be featured in MLB Network’s live game schedule from July 28 through August 7, including the NL West first-place San Francisco Giants visiting the NL East first-place Philadelphia Phillies on Thursday, July 28 at 7:00 p.m. ET, called by MLB Network’s Bob Costas and Jim Kaat. The Pittsburgh Pirates, who are part of a three-way tie for first in the NL Central, will take on the Phillies on Friday, July 29 at 7:00 p.m. ET. The live action continues into August with the Milwaukee Brewers hosting the St. Louis Cardinals, the New York Yankees at division rival and AL East first-place Boston Red Sox, called by MLB Network’s Matt Vasgersian and John Smoltz, and AL West first-place Texas Rangers at AL Central first-place Detroit Tigers.
