BREAKING NEWS: Keith Olbermann Returns to Sports on TBS’ MLB Postseason Coverage

This coming from the Hollywood Reporter and Marisa Guthrie, Keith Olbermann who’s been off television since 2012 due to his very public spat with Current TV and Al Gore, is returning to the sports arena. According to the Reporter, K.O. will be hosting TBS’ MLB Postseason coverage this October.

He will work with analyst Dennis Eckersley and possibly a second analyst. This is not unfamiliar territory to Olbermann as he hosted MLB Postseason coverage both on NBC and Fox in the 1990’s.

Of course, he’s best known in sports for co-anchoring the 11 p.m. ET SportsCenter with Dan Patrick in the 1990’s. Olbermann branched to news as the host of Countdown on MSNBC and on Current. During that period, he also was a co-host of Football Night in America with Patrick.

Earlier this year, the New York Times reported that Olbermann was in talks with ESPN to possibly return there, but ESPN Il Capo di Tutti Cappi John Skipper said there was no room for him at the network.

Olbermann has had several jobs and there’s no doubting his brilliance, but he’s also lost those jobs after feuding with management or getting bored.

He will do a good job for Turner. There’s no word if this is a one year deal or long-term.
