New year, new golf season. The PGA and European PGA Tours are underway and this is the schedule for Golf Channel for this weekend.

First Full-Field Event for 2010 PGA TOUR Season Starts Thursday on Golf Channel

ORLANDO, Fla., Jan. 13, 2010 — The first full-field event for the 2010 PGA TOUR season – The Sony Open in Hawaii kicks off Thursday in Honolulu, where 20 of the 28 participants from last week’s SBS Championship are scheduled to compete, including the Sony Open in Hawaii defending champion Zach Johnson along with the four major champions from 2009. The 144-player field also will feature the returns of John Daly and Vijay Singh to the PGA TOUR following injuries. 
Live, HD coverage of the Sony Open in Hawaii will air Thursday-Saturday from 7-10:30 p.m. ET, and Sunday from 7-10 p.m. ET.

  • All four rounds of the Sony Open in Hawaii will be produced and broadcast in high definition.
  • John Daly will be Golf Channel’s spotlight player during the telecast, giving viewers an inside look at his new reality series, Being John Daly, premiering March 2.
  •        Nick Faldo will re-create key shots from the 18th hole throughout the wee
    k for the telecast, and will show viewers how the pros hit different shots from around the course.

  • One of South Africa’s four tournaments on the European Tour, the Joburg Open is the lone tournament to be played on two courses – the East and West Courses at Royal Johannesburg & Kensington. 

  • Among those scheduled to be in the field includes Darren Clarke, Danny Lee, Edoardo Molinari, Soren Hansen, Thomas Bjorn and Paul Lawrie.
