Golf Channel’s Live Tournaments This Week

We have your tournaments for Golf Channel. It’ll have coverage of the PGA and LPGA Tours. Plenty of coverage of the WGC-Match Play Championship as well as the LPGA Tour stop in Singapore. In addition to the Match Play Championship, Golf Channel will be in Mexico for the other PGA Tour tourney, the Mayakoba Golf Classic, which will have Greg Norman and John Daly in the field. Broadcast Notes:

  • Golf Channel on NBCGolf Channel and NBC Sports will combine resources this week in their first event together under the newly-formed NBC Sports Group.  Golf telecasts on NBC Sports will now be re-branded as “Golf Channel on NBC,” with NBC golf coverage incorporating the Golf Channel look and feel throughout every telecast.
  • Aimpoint and Srixon ProTracer Featured – Aimpoint, Golf Channel’s Emmy-award winning putting line technology that predicts the line of the putt and where players must aim to hole out, will be featured on holes 6 and 14 at The Ritz-Carlton Golf Club, Dove Mountain.  Also featured will be Srixon Protracer, a graphics technology that measures the flight and trajectory of a golf shot using superimposed graphics to show the ball flight.
  • Expanded Morning Drive and Golf Central Coverage – Morning Drive, the network’s new morning show, will have additional live airings for 30 minutes each leading into Thursday and Friday’s coverage.  Golf Central and Golf Central Pre Game will wrap live tournament coverage all week.
  • Golf Central Special: State of the Game Live – Friday at 8:30 p.m. ET, a first-of-its-kind television event will include the biggest names that cover the game – Dan Hicks, Johnny Miller, Roger Maltbie, Nick Faldo and Brandel Chamblee – discussing golf’s biggest issues.  State of the Game Live will be a roundtable discussion of relevant events making news at the WGC-Match Play Championship; Tiger Woods; the emergence of European stars and what it means for American golf and the PGA TOUR; and rules.

  • Greg Norman Spotlight Player – Hall-of-Famer Greg Norman will be Golf Channel’s spotlight player during Thursday’s telecast, featuring a one-on-one interview that will take place prior to the tournament.  Norman is the course designer for El Camaleon Golf Club.
