REPORT: Tim McCarver Expected to Call 30 St. Louis Cardinals Games

This from the St. Louis Post-Dispatch and Dan Caesar, Tim McCarver has reached an agreement with Fox Sports Midwest to be on 30 Cardinals games this season. Nothing is final yet, but McCarver tells Caesar he expects his contract with Fox Sports Midwest to be ironed out soon.

Last season, Fox Sports gave McCarver a send-off after the World Series and while it seemed like he would ride off into the sunset, the former Cardinals catcher told anyone who would listen that he was not retiring from broadcasting. And lo and behold, we find that McCarver was telling the truth.

To allow McCarver to step into the booth, Cards radio voice Mike Shannon is cutting back on his schedule by 50 games so Fox Sports Midwest announcers Ricky Horton and Al Hrabosky will take his place via a rotation so the regional sports network needed an additional voice. McCarver was available and of course, has a connection to the team, so viola!

We expect a full announcement on this very soon.
