Co-host Terry Bradshaw has some advice to what Donovan McNabb should do in Washington: “Donovan, you’ve had a great 11 years and we all respect you for what you’ve done. Do not allow your 12th year to go down in ruins with a man questioning your intelligence. I don’t believe in the out of shape thing. When they start questioning your intelligence, don’t smile and say ‘it’s okay, it’s the coach’s decision.’ You fight for respect. I know about intelligence being questioned. At 62, I fight it almost every day of my life and I hate every second of it.  Do not allow that to happen. You fight for it and you stand up to Mike Shanahan. You understand me? Don’t let it happen. If you don’t, then like most people America, I’m just going to think maybe the coach is right.”
Analyst Jimmy Johnson on Mike Shanahan’s decision and explanation to bench Donovan McNabb last week: “This is a classic case of ‘open mouth, insert foot.’ Mike Shanahan was wrong for benching McNabb. He was wrong for saying what he said after the game and wrong for the comments the next day.”
Analyst Howie Long on what Shanahan should do if he doesn’t think McNabb can quarterback his team: “The first thing you do at a crime scene is separate the suspects and you do that so they can’t get their stories matched up. The dumbest player in the league doesn’t buy what he heard after the game from Shanahan. Donovan McNabb has earned the right to be treated with respect. If you don’t think he’s picked up the offense or if you don’t think he’s the player that he was, then turn him loose. I’m not sure how smart that decision is given what the Redskins options are. If the Redskins did turn him loose, he’d probably clear waivers because of his salary and the next day he’ll be an Arizona Cardinal.”
NFL Insider Jay Glazer reports on when the idea of benching McNabb first came up in Washington: “Kyle Shanahan has wanted to pull McNabb for several weeks. In fact, I’ve learned that the staff meeting before they played the Philadelphia Eagles, Kyle suggested that if Donovan McNabb really struggled they would consider pulling him against Philadelphia. You want to talk about an insult, against his former team. Obviously someone talked Kyle out of doing that. The bottom line is Kyle does not believe that Donovan McNabb fits his system. The Redskins plan right now is for Donovan McNabb to be their starting quarterback after their bye week but if they were willing to bench him during that Philadelphia game, they’re willing to do anything with him.”

Analyst Michael Strahan on Randy Moss’ mindset when he went to Minnesota: “The problem was that Moss went into Minnesota as the savior. He’s going to be the player and the coach. He was going to be everything to the Vikings. That’s why we saw the arrogance in the interviews and on the field. You can’t say that in the past Moss was a great player because in the NFL everything is about the present.  Presently Randy Moss is not giving us a lot to sit here and have his back in a situation like this.”
Analyst Howie Long on the consequences of being a “me-first” wide-receiver:  “I find it ironic that the two wide receivers that have defined the last 10 years in Terrell Owens and Randy Moss. They’ve played on nine different football teams. Teams don’t move on from a player because they yelled at a caterer.”

In this week’s FIRED UP segment, co-host Curt Menefee sounds off on head coaches not coming clean to fans who know better: “Speaking as a fan, one thing I know is that we hate to be taken as idiots. That’s exactly what Mike Shanahan and Brad Childress took us all for this week. With Shanahan’s three different excuses in three days and Childress saying in a press conference that all was good with Randy Moss 15 minutes before telling his team he cut him. Either they thought we were idiots or were intentionally deceiving us as part of a cover-up or worse yet, both. You see it’s not the action that’s despised – everyone knows that Shanahan has every right to bench his quarterback and Childress can cut whomever he wants – it’s the deception and the cover-up that landed each in the fans bulls-eye. It’s simple, don’t treat us like idiots. No matter how you try to spin it, fans know better, both of those guys should too.”

Reporter Pam Oliver sat down with Atlanta Falcons’ Roddy White to talk about his turnaround season, as he currently leading the NFL with 54 catches and NFC-leading 747 yards and five touchdowns. During the interview, Oliver showed White video a November 2006 game vs. the Saints where White lazily dropped a wide open pass in the 4th quarter.
Oliver: “I just want to talk about the old Roddy White.” [Shows video]
White: “I don’t want to talk about him. That’s probably my lowest moment in football.”
Oliver: “How did you get rid of that guy?”
White: “Attention to details. My attention is on football and football is my job. I have to take my job seriously. Every week I have to dominate and be the best player on the field.”
Terry Robiskie, in his third season as Falcons wide receivers’ tells Oliver what motivates his receivers: “Our philosophy has been to go about your business. Leave that national stage to T.O. and Chad. Let them cats do what they do. We just want to stay quiet, stay under the radar and get our job done.”

Analyst Howie Long on who’s most vital to the Giants’ success this season: “To me, Ahmad Bradshaw is the key to that football team. If Bradshaw goes down, I think the Giants don’t go very far.”

Analyst Michael Strahan makes his picks for teams in the AFC Championship Game: “Pittsburgh and New England”
Analyst Howie Long and co-host Terry Bradshaw pick New Orleans Saints and New York Giants to play in the NFC Championship Game, while analysts Jimmy Johnson and Michael Strahan have the Giants taking on the Green Bay Packers.

And we’ll end it there.
