The interview featured his visit to Imhotep Institute Charter High School in Philadelphia where he spoke to students about his regrets and mistakes. The school was built on a lot notorious for dog fighting.Oliver: “You know there are people that will never forgive you. How do you deal with that part of life?”Vick: “Some people will never forgive me. I can’t change that. What I do know is I can continue to be a part of the solution and not the problem.”Oliver: “Were you a happy backup?”Vick: “Yes, I was a happy backup. I was just so grateful to be in the position I was in and to play football again because I didn’t know if I was going to have that chance. Preparation and film study will take you a long way. I never understood that before and now I do. It’s paying dividends for me and I see how easy it makes the game.”Vick on his time with the Atlanta Falcons before his arrest: “I did just enough to make sure we won more than we lost. It was selfish. I still kick myself in the butt about that because who knows where I could have taken that franchise. That organization was great to me and I didn’t give them everything that I had. That’s something I have to live with for the rest of my life.”Oliver: “How will you handle the success this time around when, I think you’ll admit, you didn’t handle it very well before?”Vick: “Block it all out and not feed into it. Not get caught up in that hype. I’m taking a totally different approach. I only envision myself doing good things. That’s all I can see. How do I want to be remembered? Not as that guy from 2000-2006, not as that guy.”

People have made excuses for him on and off the football field for years because of his extraordinary talent. I know that there are people who won’t forgive him but I think there are people who need to look at what he’s doing right now.”————————————————————————————–Analyst Michael Strahan on Philadelphia’s reception for Donovan McNabb: “If they don’t boo him in Philadelphia, the sun’s not coming up tomorrow. The world is over. They are going to boo him because he didn’t win the Super Bowl in Philadelphia. That’s it.”Co-host Terry Bradshaw added: “The boos wouldn’t really bother me in Philadelphia because they do it for everything. It has no impact.”————————————————————————————–Analyst Howie Long about the relationship between Vick and McNabb: “The guy Donovan might have the strongest connection to on the other team today is the guy he recruited at Syracuse and lobbied hard to the owner and head coach to bring into Philadelphia. Vick is now running an offense that is surrounded by explosive young players and if McNabb had those players at his peak, we might be having a different conversation right now.”————————————————————————————–Analyst Michael Strahan says the Giants need to forget about the past: “The coaches and players have to get on the same page. The players need to believe and buy into it to make it happen and forget about what you did in 2007, it’s 2010 now.”————————————————————————————–With RB Ryan Grant out for the season, analyst Jimmy Johnson thinks the Packers should immediately invest in their running game: “The Packers should be very active in going after Marshawn Lynch in Buffalo or one of the backs in Carolina.”NFL Insider Jay Glazer reports the NFL threatened Vikings DE Jared Allen with fines and flag for celebration dance: “Jared said he got a call from the league office threatening him and the Vikings that if he continues to do his sack dance, they’re not only going to fine him but flag the Vikings. The league office says you cannot put your knee on the ground during a celebration but Jared is wondering why the league is getting on him now, since he’s been celebrating like this his whole career.”————————————————————————————–Analyst Howie Long comments on the progress of the 0-3 Detroit Lions: “They’re a lot further along than people think.”————————————————————————————–In FOX NFL SUNDAY’s ‘Fired Up’ segment analyst Jimmy Johnson offers a solution to the owners and the players union to avoid a potential work stoppage: “Today’s collective bargaining debate between the owners and the players is simple. Last week, Howie spoke out against an 18 game schedule which is a big sticking point but to me this is no different than a company asking its workers to put in a little overtime to keep the company strong. For the player’s safety and overall health, the owners should guarantee that they’ll add more jobs. The owners want a rookie pay scale and this makes total sense. Why should teams continue to pay unproven rookies big bonuses when some of them never contribute? Both sides have to believe that money is better spent on veterans. If the owners get 18 games and a rookie scale, the player’s percentage of a bigger pie may be smaller but their paycheck will be higher so everyone should be happy. Here’s an idea for the owners and the players union: don’t wait on getting a deal done because the closer we get to a work stoppage, NFL sponsors will pull back, and everyone will lose money. Commissioner [Roger] Goodell: let your lasting legacy be compromising with players thus guaranteeing the fans and enjoy the NFL next September.”
