Glazer: NFL Talks With Locked Out Officials Could Resume As Early As Today

FOX NFL SUNDAY analyst Howie Long says that NFL players talking about the integrity of the game during NFLRA lockout is a huge problem for the league:

FOX NFL SUNDAY Insider Jay Glazer reported that informal talks between NFLRA and NFL could resume as early as today:  “I was told this morning that the NFL expects to talk with the officials perhaps as early as today or latest tomorrow. These are not formal talks like we had earlier but at least they are talking and that’s the important part. I asked what happened earlier in the week and was told that certain things they got closer on but also further apart on other things. For example, the officials now want to be paid for the weeks that they missed. Again at least they are talking, it’s progress.”

Super Bowl winning head coach and FOX NFL SUNDAY analyst Jimmy Johnson likes that Tampa Bay Buccaneers head coach Greg Schiano instructed his players not to kneel down on defense at the end of last week’s loss to the New York Giants: “I like what Schiano did. Had the Bucs knocked the ball out or there had been a fumble, and his team won the game, we would’ve all been talking about what a genius play that was by Schiano.”

FOX NFL SUNDAY analyst Michael Strahan disagrees: “It’s wrong. You don’t do it. At some point you have to respect the game. Everybody knows those are defenseless players and everyone knows you don’t do that. It’s wrong and I don’t believe in it.”

————————————————————————————————

Co-host Terry Bradshaw on Washington Redskins rookie quarterback Robert Griffin III complaining about the Rams being ‘unprofessional’ last week: “The best advice is to ‘shhh.’  Don’t say a word.”

————————————————————————————————

Analyst Jimmy Johnson doesn’t like Cam Newton celebrating after scoring a touchdown when his team was down big: “Don’t get me wrong. I like watching Cam Newton play but the more I see him play, the more I think that he’s a lot into Cam Newton and not as much into the Carolina Panthers.”

————————————————————————————————

Co-host Terry Bradshaw believes Peyton Manning still has the ability to throw the deep ball:  “If you go back to that game, he gunned a post route and that throw had as much steam on it as it ever had. He’s got control problems only with his hand. His arm is fine.”

————————————————————————————————

NFL on FOX analyst John Lynch who is calling today’s Bears game, reported from Chicago on the dispute in last week’s game when Bears quarterback Jay Cutler shoved offensive tackle J’Marcus Webb: “In my mind when you’re wrong, you own it. That’s leadership. Cutler could’ve put out the fire in the postgame press conference. I talked to Cutler privately and told him my feelings. To his credit, he agreed. He said that before they landed back in Chicago last week, Cutler talked with J’Marcus and the offensive line and everything is fine.”

————————————————————————————————

Analyst Michael Strahan says Michael Vick and the Eagles need to play without trying to have a big play each and every time:  “The Eagles are incredibly talented.  But Michael Vick plays and his offense plays as if every play has to be a home run.  That’s where they are in trouble and put themselves in danger. Michael Vick said it himself: he needs to take the singles and doubles and the home runs will come.”

Co-Host Terry Bradshaw added: “That’s his problem. He thinks he’s playing baseball.”
