NBC’s Programming Note for Tonight’s Sunday Night Football Postponement

NBC talks how tonight’s postponement of the Minnesota Vikings-Philadelphia Eagles game will affect its Football Night in America broadcast and the move of the game to Tuesday.

NFL POSTPONES TONIGHT’S VIKINGS-EAGLES GAME UNTIL TUESDAY NIGHT AT 8 P.M. ET; WILL AIR NATIONALLY ON NBC

90-MINUTE “FOOTBALL NIGHT IN AMERICA” TO AIR TONIGHT BEGINNING AT 7 P.M. ET FROM BOTH LINCOLN FINANCIAL FIELD & 30 ROCK

NEW YORK – December 26, 2010 – Due to public safety concerns in light of today’s snow emergency in Philadelphia, the NFL has postponed tonight’s Vikings-Eagles game until Tuesday at 8 p.m. ET. It will be broadcast nationally on NBC. A 90-minute “Football Night in America” will air tonight beginning at 7 p.m. ET despite the Vikings-Eagles postponement.

Bob Costas, who won the outstanding studio host Emmy last year, will host “Football Night” live from Lincoln Financial Field and will be joined on site by “Sunday Night Football” commentators Al Michaels (play-by-play) and Cris Collinsworth (analyst).

Dan Patrick will co-host “Football Night” from NBC’s 30 Rockefeller Plaza studios and will be joined by Super Bowl-winning head coach and Emmy-nominated Tony Dungy, two-time Super Bowl winner Rodney Harrison, and reporters Peter King of Sports Illustrated and Mike Florio of ProFootballTalk.com. Alex Flanagan will report from Lambeau Field in Green Bay, Wisc., for the Giants-Packers game.

NFL STATEMENT ON VIKINGS-EAGLES: Due to public safety concerns in light of today’s snow emergency in Philadelphia, tonight’s Vikings-Eagles game has been postponed. Because of the uncertainty of the extent of tonight’s storm and its aftermath, the game will be played on Tuesday night at 8 pm. This will allow sufficient time to ensure that roads, parking lots and the stadium are fully cleared. The National Weather Service states that a winter storm warning in Philadelphia remains in effect until 1 pm on Monday. NBC will televise the game nationally.
