NBC’s Football Night in America Previews Week 6

NBC has a matchup involving Indianapolis at Washington. This might be a blowout for the Colts although quarterback Peyton Manning hasn’t looked liked Peyton Manning so far this season. We’ll see if he can get the magic back in his first primetime game of 2010.

This is what the Football Night in America and Sunday Night Football crew are saying about Sunday’s game.

MCNABB AND THE REDSKINS HOST MANNING AND THE COLTS ON “SUNDAY NIGHT FOOTBALL” – COVERAGE BEGINS WITH “FOOTBALL NIGHT IN AMERICA” AT 7 PM ET

“He’s the best quarterback in the NFL.” – “Football Night’s” Harrison on Peyton Manning
“Coach Shanahan has never been confident in stopping the Colts offense.” – “Football Night’s” Dungy
“Washington is proving they’re tough to beat.” – SNF’s Collinsworth
NEW YORK – October 14, 2010 – In a battle that pits two of the NFL’s premier quarterbacks, Donovan McNabb and the Redskins (3-2), tied for first place in the NFC East, host Peyton Manning and the Colts (3-2) who are tied for first place in the AFC South on “Sunday Night Football.”
Calling Colts-Redskins will be six-time Emmy Award-winner Al Michaels (play-by-play), who is in his 25th season as the voice of the NFL’s premier primetime package; 11-time Emmy Award-winner Cris Collinsworth, who last year, his first in the SNF booth, won the Emmy for outstanding event analyst; and sideline reporter Andrea Kremer about whom TV Guide said is “one of TV’s best sports correspondents.”
Coverage begins with “Football Night in America” at 7 p.m. ET Sunday with Bob Costas, who won the outstanding studio host Emmy last year, hosting live from inside the stadium. Dan Patrick will co-host “Football Night” from NBC’s 30 Rockefeller Plaza studios joined by Super Bowl-winning head coach and Emmy-nominated Tony Dungy, two-time Super Bowl winner Rodney Harrison, and Sports Illustrated’s Peter King. Alex Flanagan will report from The Metrodome in Minneapolis, Minn., on the Cowboys-Vikings game.
DUNGY ON COLTS-REDSKINS: “Coach Shanahan has never been confident in stopping the Colts offense. He’s always thought of it as outscoring the Colts, so they are going to try to put pressure on them with big plays offensively. Defensively, they have to stop the passing game. Indianapolis has not run the ball well…Joseph Addai has been banged up and Donald Brown has been out the last couple of weeks. All the running last week fell on Mike Hart, who is really the No. 3 running back. So it’s going to be Peyton and those receivers who will be moving the football for the Colts.”

HARRISON ON REDSKINS DEFENSE: “Mike Shanahan is really confident in his defense. They played extremely well against the Packers and put a lot of pressure on Aaron Rodgers.”

IS EITHER OF THESE 3-2 TEAMS AMONG THE LEAGUE’S ELITE?
Harrison: “Indianapolis with Peyton Manning is. He is the best quarterback in the NFL. And with the team starting to get healthy, (Robert) Mathis and (Dwight) Freeney can start attacking the quarterback more.”
Dungy: “At this point in the season, I would talk to my teams and say that there are going to be a couple of teams who get hot and get going. Somebody is going to put together a streak of consistent football and it could be one of these teams.”

COLLINSWORTH ON COLTS-REDSKINS: “Washington is proving they’re tough to beat AND the game is in Washington, while the Colts are coming off a game where they didn’t exactly light it up against Kansas City.”

There you have it.
