Monday Night Football Gives ESPN A Win

The New England Patriots blowout win of the Kansas City Chiefs gave ESPN a cable primetime win. Overall, Monday Night Football received a 7.8 rating and 12.344 million viewers. And MNF takes the night in key demographics. We take a look at the press release below.

Monday Night Football Helps ESPN Win the Night in All Key Male and Adult Demos

This week’s ESPN Monday Night Football telecast – a 34-3 New England Patriots victory over the Kansas City Chiefs – helped ESPN win the night among all networks – broadcast or cable – in all key male and adult demos. The telecast averaged:

  • 9.1 household coverage rating (7.8 U.S. rating)
  • 8,984,000 households
  • 12,344,000 viewers

Notes:

  • ESPN won the night among all networks in all the key male and adult demos; finished second in households
  • MNF led all programs Monday night in the delivery of all key male demos and adults 18-34; finished second in adults 18-49 and 25-54

Local market ratings:

  • Kansas City: 12.8 rating on ESPN and a 17.0 rating on KMBC-ABC, for a combined 29.8 rating
  • Boston: 11.0 rating on ESPN and a 21.2 rating on WCVB-ABC, for a combined 32.2 rating

MNF season averages (thru 11 weeks/12 games):

  • 9.7 household coverage rating (8.4 U.S. rating)
  • 9,623,000 households
  • 13,194,000 viewers
