ESPN’s Monday Night Football Gets Ratings Win Across Broadcast & Cable

Monday night’s Pittsburgh at San Francisco game, complete with two electrical power failures at Candlestick Park, garnered good ratings for ESPN. The game received a 10.1 rating beating all programs on both broadcast & cable, plus it averaged 16.7 million viewers.

However, the rating is down from last year’s 10.8 for the Chicago-Minnesota game which had several factors including the first outdoor game for the Vikings and of course, Brett Favre.

In Pittsburgh, the combined rating from ESPN and WTAE was a whopping 44.2 rating. In San Francisco, ESPN and KPIX saw a combined 28.2 number.

We have the press release from ESPN.

MNF SEASON FINALE NEXT WEEK IN NEW ORLEANS
The season finale of ESPN’s MNF features another marquee matchup next week when Drew Brees and the New Orleans Saints (11-3) host Matt Ryan and the NFC South rival Atlanta Falcons (9-5) on Monday, December 26, at 8:30 p.m. ET. The Saints are vying for the No. 2 seed in the NFC playoffs, while the Falcons hope to secure a playoff berth of their own. The same two teams met a year ago in ESPN’s 2010 MNF season finale with the Saints winning 17-14. (The Dec. 27, 2010 game was the most-viewed MNF game last season — and the third-most-viewed MNF game all-time on ESPN – with 19,137,000 viewers).

That is all.
