ESPN Counters NFL Network and NFL.com With Own NFL Schedule Show

Not to be outdone by the NFL Network and NFL.com on the announcement of the NFL regular season schedule next Tuesday, ESPN will have its own NFL regular season announcement special. In fact, the special spans two networks!

Here’s ESPN’s press release on the whole thing:

SportsCenter Special: Schedule Release
Tuesday, April 14 – 7-8 p.m., ESPN2 and 8-10 p.m., ESPN

When the National Football League announces its 2009 regular season schedule, ESPN’s SportsCenter Special: Schedule Release will review the entire slate of games Tuesday, April 14 (7-8 p.m. ET on ESPN2 and continuing from 8-10 p.m. on ESPN). The three-hour SportsCenter Special will examine individual team schedules, key match-ups, Monday Night Football games, national TV games and other schedule highlights.

Trey Wingo will host the SportsCenter Special with analysts Ron Jaworski, Trent Dilfer, Merril Hoge and Tim Hasselbeck. A number of NFL players, including DeMarcus Ware (Dallas Cowboys), Joey Porter (Miami Dolphins), Brian Dawkins (Denver Broncos) and Richard Seymour (New England Patriots), are also expected to participate in live interviews.
The program will be aired in a compressed format similar to ESPN’s NFL Draft presentation with scrolling team-by-team updates.

ESPN is trying to roll out the heavy hitters on this one. I’ll be watching NFL Network on Tuesday.
