MLB on TBS is Back on July 6

After being off for the first half of the season, TBS returns to Major League Baseball this Sunday for a 13-game regular season schedule. In addition to the 13 Sunday afternoon games, TBS will carry one Wild Card Playoff game (ESPN has the other), two League Division Series (Fox Sports 1 will carry the other two) and one League Championship Series (Fox Sports 1 will air the other LCS).

The season begins with the New York Yankees taking on the Minnesota Twins. Ernie Johnson, Jr., Ron Darling and Cal Ripken, Jr. will call the game beginning at 2 p.m. ET.

One key for TBS will be increased “co-exists” meaning that the games will be seen in the home markets and not be blacked out. This Sunday’s game will be available in Minnesota along with the home broadcast on Fox Sports North.

Here is what TBS is saying about its season.

Sunday MLB on TBS Returns July 6:
New York Yankees vs. Minnesota Twins at 2 p.m. ET
Yankees/Twins Match-Up to be Seen Locally Throughout Minnesota

Sunday MLB on TBS will return July 6 with the New York Yankees and Derek Jeter visiting the Minnesota Twins and Joe Mauer at 2 p.m. ET. With broader co-exist rights this season, the Sunday MLB on TBS telecast will be seen locally throughout Minnesota.  New York’s Hiroki Kuroda and Minnesota’s Ricky Nolasco are scheduled to take the mound as the probable starting pitchers. In the broadcast booth, Ernie Johnson will provide play-by-play with veteran TBS MLB analysts Ron Darling and Hall of Famer Cal Ripken.

Upcoming match-ups on the Sunday MLB on TBS schedule will include the St. Louis Cardinals visiting the Milwaukee Brewers on July 13 at 2 p.m., with the telecast shown locally in Milwaukee. On July 20, the Boston Red Sox will host the Kansas City Royals at 1:30 p.m. in a game that will be available in the Kansas City market.

This season marks the first of Turner Sports’ new eight-year multimedia rights agreement with Major League Baseball that will extend the partnership to more than 40 years. As part of the new agreement, TBS will have enhanced rights for its Sunday MLB on TBS game of the week with increased co-exist rights in the local markets. The network will also exclusively televise one Wild Card Game, two of the four MLB Division Series and one League Championship Series during the 2014 MLB Postseason.
