“Feherty Live” Returns to Golf Channel This Week

One of Golf Channel’s leading personalities, David Feherty, is back with a pair of live shows this week. His first show of 2014 will be aired live from Universal Studios in Orlando, FL in front of a studio audience.

Among his guests on Tuesday will be golfing legend Lee Trevino and ESPN college football analyst Lou Holtz.

On Wednesday, Greg Norman will be David’s guest.

And on Monday in Feherty’s normal timeslot of 9 p.m. ET, David gives us an inside look at his first three live shows which aired last year.

Here’s the Golf Channel announcement.

ORLANDO, Fla. (Jan. 17, 2014) – David Feherty returns next week with not one, but two of his signature, live shows on Golf Channel. Feherty, called by USA Today an “interviewer like no other,” will capitalize on the buzz created by the golf industry descending on Orlando, Fla., next week for the annual PGA Merchandise Show. The two performances of Feherty Live will be shot on consecutive nights in front of studio audiences at Universal Studios Orlando, on Tuesday, Jan. 21 and Wednesday, Jan. 22 at 9 p.m. ET.

“I can’t wait to get back on stage in front of a live audience for yet another attempt at career suicide,” said Feherty. “The live shows are what I live for, and what make the suits at Golf Channel cringe.”

Feherty has been described as “one of the funniest men in the game” by Yahoo! Sports and his series “a cross between Oprah and Johnny Carson” by The New York Times. Feherty’s live shows are known for their surprises, like introducing Michael Phelps to his idol Michael Jordan, or Tim Tebow sitting down at the height of Tebow-mania.

GUEST LINEUPS:

Feherty Live: Tuesday, Jan. 21:

  • Lee Trevino, one of golf’s greatest shot-makers and beloved personalities
  • Graeme McDowell, PGA TOUR star and Ryder Cup hero
  • Lou Holtz, college football coaching legend and ESPN analyst

Feherty Live: Wednesday, Jan 22

  • Greg Norman, “the Great White Shark,” famed golfer and course designer
  • James Patterson, whose best-selling books have sold more than 270 million copies
  • Mike Eruzione, captain of the “Miracle on Ice” 1980 U.S. Olympic hockey team

LIVE SHOW PRECAUTIONS:

These two shows will mark Feherty’s fourth and fifth live performances on Golf Channel, with previous live shows produced at the Super Bowl, Ryder Cup and last year’s PGA Merchandise Show. And, once again, the Golf Channel producers have hired the best in the business to operate the mute button. Mike Marsico – known in industry circles as “Mike The Finger” – has worked on everything from the WWE’s biggest events to “America’s Got Talent” to comedian Kathy Griffin’s live, primetime talk show on Bravo.

ANOTHER ENCORE PERFORMANCE BY JOSH KELLEY

MCA recording artist and country singer-songwriter Josh Kelley will return as musical guest for Feherty Live. Kelley is best known for the top-5 hit “Amazing,” and his latest hit “Georgia Clay” from his debut country album. Kelly is an avid golfer, who played collegiately at the University of Mississippi – where he was a roommate with Eli Manning – and remains a single-digit handicap golfer.

FIRST-EVER SPECIAL FROM BEHIND THE SCENES OF FEHERTY LIVE

As a prelude to the live shows, on Monday, Jan. 20 at 9 p.m. ET, Feherty will pull back the curtains for his first-ever Feherty Live: Behind the Scenes Special, taking viewers backstage for never-before-seen moments from the first three Feherty Live performances during Super Bowl Week in Indianapolis, Ryder Cup week in Chicago and in Orlando last year during PGA Merchandise Show week.

The first episode of Feherty debuted in 2011 as the most-watched premiere for an original series in Golf Channel history, and over the span of three seasons has featured a variety of guests, including the likes of former President Bill Clinton, five-time NBA MVP Bill Russell, and Academy-award winning actor Don Cheadle, as well as golfing greats like 18 Major winner Jack Nicklaus.

I’ll have one more post this morning before I head out for much of the day.
