Phil Mushnick of the New York Post says Buffalo was sold a bill of goods when NBC picked its game with the Pats for its primetime slot tonight.

On the other hand, the Buffalo News’ Alan Pergament says NBC’s John Madden sees some good things in coming to Buffalo tonight.

Sarah Rothschild of the Miami Herald wonders if the lower TV ratings for NASCAR will affect the sport’s future. Mike Mulhern of the Winston-Salem (NC) Journal says NASCAR is shrugging off those lower TV ratings.

Erin Hicks of Canada’s SLAM! Sports has praise for FSN West’s rinkside view of the recent Kings-Ducks game.

Newsday’s Neil Best chronicles his adventures in the Giants Stadium parking lot for us. He also writes about YES canning SI’s Tom Verducci from its Yankees Hot Stove show. In his blog, Neil notes some comments made by NBC’s Tom Hammond and Pat Haden during the Duke-Notre Dame game. Best breaks news that it appears Yankees manager Joe Girardi will make weekly appearances on WFAN’s Mike & the Mad Dog show.

Chris Herring of the Detroit Free Press writes that not too many fans were able to see ESPN’s College Gameday set up close.

Brian Vanderbeek of the Modesto (CA) Bee writes that a local movie theater is showing Monday Night Football on one of its screens with the NFL’s blessing.
