Wednesday Night Links

Let’s give you a few links tonight.

First from the Watch This! blog, Jim Williams in the San Francisco Examiner says the Bonds 756th home run was a big hit in the ratings in the City by the Bay. William Houston of the Toronto Globe and Mail has praise for both FSN’s Duane Kuiper and ESPN’s Dave O’Brien for their calls of the home run.

The San Jose Mercury News picks up an Associated Press story written by Jocelyn Noveck wondering if there’s apathy towards the Barry Bonds home run chase.

ESPN has announced its college football schedule and it’s kicking off in a big way as John Consoli of Mediaweek tells us. The press release says for the first time, the ESPN family of networks will air Big 12 and Pac 10 home games. And ESPN, ESPN2, ESPN360 and ESPNU will all air one game on August 30. I guess this is what you call a road block.

Mike Leggett of the Austin (TX) American-Statesman says ESPN’s Ron Franklin has fully recovered from a car accident earlier this year and has been enjoying fishing before going back to broadcasting college football. Franklin is one of the best college football announcers today now with Keith Jackson gone.

Le Anne Schreiber, the ESPN Ombudsman, checks in with her monthly column, one criticizing “Who’s Now”. Good, I say.

Those are the links until tomorrow. Have a good night.
