Northeastern Radio Station WRBB To Air Ambitious Holiday Sports Schedule

Last year, Northeastern University radio station WRBB aired several college basketball and hockey games during the holiday break and managed to cover them all. This year, it’s going to be doing it again and broadcasting from Mexico in the process. I have an affinity for things like this as I was in college radio myself broadcasting University of Rhode Island football and basketball games so I know what it’s like having to plan a schedule in advance.

Here’s the schedule. Good luck to the staff at WRBB.

WRBB SPORTS BREAKS NEW GROUND WITH INTERNATIONAL BROADCAST DURING SECOND ANNUAL “HOLIDAY ROAD TRIP”
Student station features inaugural Cancun Governor’s Cup, among eight road games
BOSTON — For the second year, Northeastern Huskies fans won’t have to pound their keyboards refreshing online scoreboards to keep up with their team over winter vacation. WRBB Sports is yet again crisscrossing the country (and the world) to bring Huskies fans more coverage on the road than any other student station in the nation, with the second annual WRBB Holiday Road Trip.
The Holiday Road Trip kicks off on December 22nd, when Northeastern men’s basketball participates in the inaugural Cancun Governor’s Cup in Cancun, Mexico, then concludes on January 7th when Northeastern men’s hockey visits western Massachusetts to take on UMass in a Hockey East contest.
“Every year, we’re doing something new and different,” said WRBB sports director Alex Faust, “Two years ago, it was Alaska. Last year, it was Hawaii. This time, we’re sending a crew across international borders. To say we’re looking forward to it would be the understatement of the year.”
In all, WRBB will broadcast eight games from five different sites, logging nearly 5,000 miles in travel. Fans can keep track of the broadcast crew’s travels on Twitter by following @wrbbsports or searching for the hashtag #holidayroadtrip.
