After being courted by NBC in the case the Peacock obtained the rights to MLB, Dan Shulman has decided to remain at ESPN to be the main play-by-play man for baseball and college basketball.
Shulman will continue to be teamed with Orel Hershiser on Sunday Night Baseball and call the World Series on ESPN Radio. He’ll also be teamed with Dick Vitale on Saturday Night Basketball.
He joined ESPN in 1995 working various capacities including a weekend host on ESPN Radio.
He has previously worked at TSN in Canada calling the Toronto Blue Jays.

Dan Shulman Re-signs with ESPN
Dan Shulman – the 2012 NSSA Sportscaster of the Year – has reached a multiyear extension with ESPN. Shulman will continue to serve as the voice of Sunday Night Baseball – ESPN’s exclusive national MLB game of the week. He will also resume his play-by-play roles for ESPN’s Saturday primetime Men’s college basketball telecasts with analyst Dick Vitale and ESPN Radio’s coverage of the MLB postseason, including the World Series.
“Dan’s one of the most talented and versatile play-by-play commentators in our industry,” said Jed Drake, Senior Vice President and Executive Producer. “Dan’s voice has become unmistakable, his storytelling ability is top-notch and his penchant for making his colleagues better is an incredible asset to ESPN and to sports fans.”
Shulman will be joined by Sunday Night Baseball partner Orel Hershiser to lead ESPN Radio’s exclusive radio coverage of the World Series, beginning Wednesday, Oct. 24.
“Dan serves the sports fan to the highest level,” added Hershiser. “He’s always prepared to make every telecast the best it can be. It’s a genuine pleasure to work with him.”
In addition to calling ESPN’s Saturday primetime Men’s college basketball games, Shulman handles play-by-play for games across a variety of conferences.

Shulman began working for ESPN in 1995 and previously served as the voice of ESPN’s Monday Night Baseball (2008-10) and Wednesday Night Baseball (2002-07). Shulman has contributed to ESPN Radio’s MLB postseason coverage since 1998.
