As I watch the third night of Carrier on PBS, I’ll give you a few more links.
First, a couple of things from the Sports Media Watch. Paul Sen says the final ratings for the NFL Draft showed that they were down only 3% from last year. And we have the final weekend ratings for most of the events on TV.
From a press release, Comcast SportsNet New England says ratings for the Celtics-Hawks series are up 70% from the regular season.
Comcast SportsNet is averaging a 5.8 rating through the first four Celtics-Hawks telecasts, up 70 percent over the regular season. Comcast SportsNet’s Game 4 telecast achieved a 6.8 and reached an estimated 312,000 households throughout New England.
That is good news for Comcast.
I have to admit that I switched over to HBO to watch a bit of Costas Now and became engrossed in the panel discussion on Sports on TV. Thanks to DirecTV, I have the West Coast feed of HBO so I’ll record the program off that channel and watch it on Wednesday to see what I missed. Back to the links.
Justin Terranova of the New York Post writes in the NYP TV Sports blog that TNT’s Charles Barkley thinks co-analyst Kenny Smith should not take the New York Knicks GM job.
Anthony Crupi of Mediaweek reports that TNT’s ratings for the NBA is giving the channel a big boost, but not enough to offset USA Network’s stranglehold on first place in the cable primetime ratings.
John Manasso of the Atlanta Business Chronicle says the Hawks’ presence in the NBA Playoffs is helping to increase the ratings on TNT and FSN South.
John Consoli of Mediaweek says FSN Houston will provide a feed of Astros games in Spanish.
Tony Paige writes in Multichannel News that the Budweiser Sports Report on BET should have lasted over twenty years.
ESPN has announced the field for this year’s Old Spice Classic, a Thanksgiving weekend tournament for college basketball.
